really! I'm sure there were cheaper rooms available. I'll look around.

Edit:
I went to the travelodge website and looked at rooms for July and November.
for july I got from £32 a night at Manchester central and for November its from £29 a night.

if you book them in advance they do get quite cheap.

but you're right, If I tried to book in tomorrow it'd be from £44 for the night.

Which is why I'm now pushing for us to try and confirm dates. the more in advance we book the cheaper it'll be.

Dwarf, I'll see if I can bake you a wheat-free cake =]

Dumbledore annoyed me at times, but I did like him. Sometimes, it felt like he was manipulating Harry and not really caring for his feelings.

I think he cared for Harry at first but did start to manipulate him when he realised how useful he was. but there was still a lot of caring, that's why he had lots of backup plans with Snape and others.

In the first book he could have killed any of the students. The door to where Fluffy was was hardly locked, not if a run-of-the-mill spell like Alohomora could unlock it. Although he obviously did have some sense of caring about Harry, he was nowhere near as perfect or god-like than he is sometimes made out to be.

I always find it weird now that JK assigned a timeline to the saga. Voldemorts downfall in 1981.
It means Harry and the group went to school in the 90's, killing Voldemort again in 1998 and when they were taking their kids to school in the epilogue of the last book would have been 2017.

bigger geeks than me have worked this out.

Dumbledore did forbid anyone to go up there. if dumbledore warns you, you listen.
plus if anyone did get up there they would turn around pretty sharpish.

^ Yeah, me too. The story would have worked on the same level if no such timeline was made. I also found it funny that Tony Blair said that he was 'in' HBP, when it would have John Major that was PM at the time.

You're telling a school full of teenagers not to do something? Might as well have put a bit red button with a sign saying 'do not push'.

I know, I laugh at Tony, trying to take that credit where it isn't due nothing changes eh.

I also laugh at the thought of John Major trying to cope with a massive wizard emergency.

the movies have thrown the timeline out the window. the millenium bridge is present in Deathly Hallows.

Yeah, but the films also have them all flying through London on broomsticks.

there's no way they'd be so stupid as to stick with the timeline after showing new millennium buildings and architecture...mind you this is Hollywood we're talking about.
