i worked with a few older women so knew most of the gross bits of birth but i didnt know about mucus plugs or what a placenta looked like! EW! I though it would look like snot like a clear floppy jelly but no its ming and bloody! Does it hurt when that comes out? How long do you stay massive down there? does it shrink back fast? Ha ha im 23 and im still learning i like this show
it doesn't hurt at all. To be honest I don't know how long you stay massive. Because I had a pretty bad tear which still bothers me now (17months later!).

It didn't heal properly and I have an ulcer and I have to use aneasthetic cream on it if I want to have sex! My doctor's answer was vague as to when my ulcer would heal, if ever.

it's not good to have a fluffy view, because it's certainly not fluffy! But I worry that showing a long, drawn out labour will really worry people who are already pregnant and ****ing themselves already over the prospect. A more rounded view saying 'labours vary from person to person' would have been more appropriate.
I didn't really notice the screaming in the labour ward. Because I arrived at the labour ward, 25mins to go, unable to walk, my t shirt back to front and inside out, with the head already starting to crown. So I was the screamer!

oh... were you talking about the mucus plug hurting or the placenta? The mucus plug doesn't hurt, but the placenta does. Although not as much as the baby.

I just think it would help, as you say, to suggest it varies but perhaps to add on to be prepared for things not to always go as intended. I'll try and leave it there though :) Sorry to hear about your problem (the one under the hide!), would be worth seeing a gynaecologist about that or another GP. x

I don't want to have children. Ever. But if I change my mind when I'm older then I think I'll want to eat the placenta.
I've been told that's weird and I thoguht it was too but after seeing Hugh Fernley What'shisname talk about when he cooked a womans placenta for the childs christening, it just made sense. It's pretty much the most nutritional thing any animal can produce and it's just a lump of meat.
I don't think seeing what a labour actually looks like (Compared to the fluffylovely ones) will put people off having a baby, jeezo. If you want kids then having a wee baby to look after would be worth the pain.

Just the way he was talking and saying we take meat from cows and every other animals, you've passed a perfectly good lump of meat, why through it away? I agree. I just used being veggie as an excuse really because I didn't want to eat it because it looked icky.
I don't usually post in N&D but I saw on a pregnancy programme once, this woman made her placenta into a pate and ate it on crackers (: It looked like normal pate and everything.
I must admit my stomach turned slightly when large bloody mess = nice little snack with a cup of tea.
last nights was quite interesting...altho the presenter is quite keen to get her bits out to any person possible.b u t it hink it is quite good that she triedd different things out to give more of a personal experience of things, altho i think i will be sticking with my pill hehe, altho poss wouldnt mind the implant, but dr;s wont recommend anything like that to me at the mo cos im being a hermit when it comes to life so there aint much action but you really dont need to know that oops hehe xx

i love the fact she's open to trying new things. it's not as if she's like 'oh i'll just see what getting chlamydia is like'. she tries out useful things like contraceptives =D
we live in a society that sees sex as dirty and not to be talked about - why not get some naked bodies out there on tv to show how to protect yourself and be safe, make it less taboo and allow people to know about stis and stuff. in fairness most teens are at it anyway and arent interested in someone talking, they want to see something like that - so if they learn why not?
in fairness isnt this the country that want to start sex eduction at like 6 or something - we'd need to get over our purdishness if thats gonna start, cause you see worse in sex ed!
