You know when you are away from the familiar for a long time, like, when you first move out of your parents place, then after a while, you go back to visit and step through the door, and notice things have changed, and its not familiar anymore. I think that may be what's happening. But like, humans have amazing adaptability. It will all become familiar again in time.
