The particular mods comments to me I found very offensive and unjustified - which I actually pointed out to another mod at the time.
As far as i'm concerned the situation between me and the mod has been rectified - as we both apologised.
I think one of the problems here is that there are 'groups' in the first place. This is meant to be an inclusive site, not one of little groups which can foster an 'us and them' attitude. Obviously people are going to form friendships and there is nothing wrong with that, but when a thread (or in Chat) is basically a conversation between a small group of people I think there is something wrong.

I wasn't questioning anything else about the situation other than the fact you found it all amusing. I'm glad it was resovled, I'm glad you approached another mod... I was just a bit - well, I still don't know what the word is.

In my opinion liking has nothing to do with the RYL rules or enforcing the RYL rules... that should be remembered. I've given points to people I like very much... but when you break the rules you expect the consequences and then not rebel against them.

You're going to find groups everywhere you go. There is nothing which can be done about that, it's a way of life. However what can be changed is how the groups act and behave towards others and the influence they have. This is where the mods come in and this is where things get heated when people of the same group stick up for one another. Groups are fine, it's just the attitude a group may have which is the problem.

exactly. Ive been a mod for little over 2 days and I feel a little segregated. Maybe thats my problem though?I dont know. All I know is that I care about this site, I care about the people on it and Im just here to help....nothing more sinister than that.

You haven't ever been a mod here but it is ****ing hard and most people have no idea about that unless they have done it. To mod a site full of volatile/vulnerable/ill, etc, people and still be dealing with your own problems, that's a tough thing to do. They won't make all right decisions all the time, they will make mistakes, but they do the best they can.

Although I'm not a mod, I have personal reasons why the term 'nazi' can be upseting to me. I am able to understand and contain that now, myself. I understand the hurt and power dynamics contained in such a seemingly simple word.
Many people on this site are here for support because they've been traumatised and bullied. Speaking from the perspective of a Supporter, and of someone with a difficult past, I would suggest those who engage in the behaviour addressed in this thread think seriously about how their behaviour might impact upon others who are less "socially confident" than themselves.
They are doing their job. If they couldn't be arsed doing their job, they didn't do it to the standard that they are now, or there was no moderators, things would go tits up and i'm sure there would be plenty of people to complain then. People only throw a hissy fit at things which don't work their way. If they don't believe in it then it's wrong and they need to make a big deal out of it or if it's not part of their 'crew'. For instance, i've seen many a times... someone out of the 'cool' gang will make a pointless/stupid thread yet it will get what.... 6/7 pages, a new person will make a thread along the same lines, or a thread which the majority don't agree with, yet they get slaughtered, told to **** off and do one. Like we hear all the time - if we don't like it, don't read it, but some of RYL don't stick by that - they need to make a scene, need to make the personf eel as small as possible and this is when themoderators come in. It's their JOB!
As for the 'we cannot air our feelings at all anymore' comment - people can, but they choose to do it in a horrible way. So that's why the moderators jump in.
Trust me, if there were no moderators and RYL slipped, you wouldn't like it. So try to appreciate them instead of bashing them. Yes they make mistakes sometimes but come on who doesn't.
Respect goes a long way.
I was trying to come up with something worth posting, then I stumbled across this and I can't agree more.
I've never had a problem with the mods, I've had a couple of posts edited but I understand why. They do their best to make sure the forum runs smoothly and that all posts are suitable to be posted.
I hadn't heard of the term 'Nazi moderators' until I read this thread but come on, that's not fair to call them that, especially on a thread. If you have a problem with them, tell them. I'm sure they'd appreciate knowing what it is you think they are doing wrong rather than being slated on here.
I am not perfect and I don't claim to be. And if that's what you wanted, well I am so sorry... So mighty, so hegemonic, so hating, so desecrating, so there, so nowhere, so hurting, we fall between indifference, rejection...

I don't really have much to add to whats already been said on here. But what I do want to say is think how all of this looks to any new members that may be lurking around. If I was new I would feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable around here just now, it isn't good for the supportive atmosphere of the site or for anyone on it.

Oh right, so if I said something about you that was offensive and mean, you wouldn't mind? That's saying bullying and sarcastic comments are okay. ¬_¬
As predicted, this thread is now going to be locked, as after some good discussion on the original topic, it is now straying into other areas. This thread has now gone off topic, and I feel that it has served it's purpose now and is no longer needed as an open thread.
However, I'd like to think that some people have started to get a better understanding that ALL our members - be it moderators or not - should be treated with respect on these forums. It's not hard to do, but if you break a rule you pay the price, there is no point getting angsty with the moderators over that.
However, we are people too and I would appreciate it if members could start remembering that, instead of thinking just because our names are different colours we are some way better than you - because we're not.
I'd like to thank you for your discussions, and especially on such a difficult topic keeping it very level headed. Was a good start to this change I'd like to see a bit more around here; respect & inclusion.
