If you use a plastic applicator, and use it like..er..when youre properly on your period it should be fine. Practice using the applicator first with one, just to see how it works, then bin it and use a fresh one on yourself. Start on a small one and it'll get easier
^I like that my thread caused you to convert to mooncups!
T'is true! Your thread not only saved my plumbing from all the tampons I was flushing, it's actually made my periods a lot less woeful!

They're definitely worth it! I've never rinsed mine in a public toilet as they don't need emptying very often and I don't get out much haha. I like to keep a mini pack of wet wipes in my bag though just in case I'm out for a while. I'd give it a wipe over and rinse it properly then at home. I usually change mine as soon as I wake up, twice through the day and then again before bed.
After a rubbish day you have actually made me laugh out so loud even though I'm in a flat by myself. Heehee, good use of Mean Girls quote. Thank you.
Hehe, glad to have caused a laugh!

I know you have heavy periods, so pads must be a nightmare! Like ferretmonster said, tampons really are worth a try. Again, I don't want to come across really pushy, it's totally up to you, but I can assure you that it's really quite easy. With an applicator and a good read of the information leaflet it should be fine. I hadn't had sex before I started using tampons, and apart from a slight fail with my first one (it was non-applicator, so a bit more tricky!) I've never had a problem, and barely notice my period, even when it's at its heaviest.
I use pads as I found I leaked when I wore a tampon on my heavy days and on the less heavy days it was dry and uncomfy!
That said when I lived in a dubai there was a brand of tampons that you cant get in England that worked for me so did use them.

There are never too many menstruation related threads!
I got scared of tampons for a while and used pads, but since my PTSD got better in back to using tampons (yes! *celebrates*) and only use pads on a night as sometimes I sleep for longer than I feel safe using a tampon.
Jenna, my girlfriend and I synced up for the first time today. We had one emergency tampon each and that was it. Awkward conversation; 'do you have any tampons?' 'No, I just used my only one.' 'Aw, knickers, me too.' 'Emergency tampon run ahoy?' 'Aye.'
Now I'll play your ghost as my ace, whenever I'm led astray.
But I am actually good, can't help it if we're tilted.
I'm in my right place, don't be a downer.
there are only two openings down there big enough to put a tampon in and one is your bum
No what I meant is that I wouldn't be able to locate it because I wouldn't be able to see it. Well perhaps I could do it but it would mean a lot of poking.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
sorry Steel Maiden I'm not trying to force you into using tampons or anything i'm just trying to umm educate i guess
It's ok.

Periods are gross. I wish that my meds could stop my periods like they used to (although hyperprolactinaemia can cause bone density issues.....).

I don't understand periods, the way I see them as I said to Beckie last weekend is once a month women are punished for not being pregnant. How stupid is that!

Some people just need a high-five. To the face. With a chair.
Basically this! I'd like to use tampons but.. I just freak out so pads it is!

IN RELATED NEWS, Jodie just got a period tracker app on her smart phone and it is thrilling and has lots of different sections for menstrual symptoms, mood, ovulation, etc. It's so exciting. I don't have a smart phone, so may have to make a paper version for myself.
What's the app?!
Also, some of your comments made me laugh farr too much, thanks!

Agree, pads are like nappies :| I still use them though!
I'm the same! Always dread it/the days before but hey ho, these things have to happen! Rather embarrassingly, when I was still irregular, my brothers used to guess when my period was before I did because I change moods so much - they always used to be like 'Caz, are you on your period?' and I was always like 'NO ACTUALLY, SOD OFF, LEAVE ME ALONE!' .. then 2/3 days later I'd start. Awkwardddd!
There will always be a happy ending. If its not happy then its not yet the end.

ah i see, i did wonder.
i probably know the answer but do you have issues surrounding your body and being female?
