Etchings sell for a lot, as do mezzotints and lithographs, but most don't know what the hell either process is so they often wonder why they're being charged so much....If it is framed, that helps too to jack up the price. I've charged $75 for a 3"x4" mezzotint (the paper was a bit bigger) that took me a week and a half to do....(That's a really long time for such a teeny plate, working on it non-stop, basically. It was unframed, and I was told by a professor I could charge up to $110-120 for it.)...up to $175 or more for etchings....I can't recall the size, but a series of 4 took me at least 2 months, maybe more to complete...I'm guessing the paper was 11"xsomething, it was long-ish and narrow in dimensions....
The first one would make a good etching, mezzotint, or litho.....woodcut, not so much......I think it's too detailed, unless you want to tackle engraving...
Is there a local print shop or school where you can take classes if you havent yet already?
