Thought ninjapenguin comment was not allowed. Not this but other threads calling Bible fiction and saying things about god- thought that those conversations were out of order........but obviously, I am seen as the one with the issue.

In addition, when someone attacks me for my sensitivity I thought that goes against the whole spirit of RYL.

I have made my peace with the whole rapture issue today- and I don't want to be a buzz kill- but at the same time, why can't people have a serious conversation.

I don't get why it/ today is fair game to dump on people who obviously are exploiting Christianity, but don't represent Christians, but there is like no place to talk about it seriously. Everybody is treating it as a joke, or finding solace in Bible quotations that they don't even necessarily believe. I know that the fact that I can't find solace is my own issue because of where I am in my life, but I definitely cannot make jokes about it to get by.

Like I said I don't want to disagree with anyone, as people on this thread seem to be having fun...........I guess I just am not letting go that easily. If you don't laugh then you'd cry right..........My beliefs are just important to me- and I guess I can read between the lines when there is actually nothing there. At the same time, I wish people were aware- or cared that this is a sensitive topic. So obviously like I said before: it is just me.

I dont see how everyone is exploiting it and i find nothing wrong with the comment, its meant to be a joke.

No one is making fun or saying anything about christianity and beliefs, the reason people find it so hard to believe is because the guy had no proof it was the end, everyone interprets the bible their own way, but then to gather some magic numbers do a few calculations and come up with a date is rather absurd, more absurd that 17 years ago he did the same exact thing.

Christians find it wrong because there is no one but god that would know the end of the world. Atheists find it funny, not to make a joke of religion, but because this guys came up with this randomly, and got it wrong first time, that he's hardly going to be right, and of course if you dont believe in god there isn't going to be a rapture for you.

Really i just think there are going to be a lot of angry people who believed what he said, gave up their lifes to spread the word of the rapture. People will be left with no money, jobs or home because they believed the word of this man.

If you think something has broken the rules, you really should report it. The mods aren't super-human and can't see what's going on everywhere, and they rely on individuals to report potentially rule-breaking posts, which they can then discuss and decide action on.

Giving the opinion that the bible is fiction and opinions about god/lack there of is in no way breaking the rules anymore than the Christian SIers thread and their views etc are breaking the rules. People have opposing views. People also make jokes about those views. Such is life. I believe the bible is a work of fiction and a damaging one at that, However I also respect that many many people disagree with my on both or one of those counts and fully accept that they have the right to express that.

The fact that your comment was just plain mean and inaccurate doesn't help much. People can't help what triggers them. All they can try to do is deal with it appropriately. This thread has broken a few RYL rules too- and no one has said anything.
My name isn't Chloey and your beliefs were wrong.

If there is anything I have learnt about RYL over the past few years, is that some topics have a tendency to get personal and people really can be mean and inappropriate about their comments. I didn't "report" anything because I don't believe in censorship- as I acknowledged before, this thread was just a big joke and everyone was having a laugh. I've never been in the Christian SI thread because that is not how I experience my beliefs/ faith. However, I do think that there is a way to communicate with people even if it is in a general forum.

Sorry "Choley" and Dreaming if my beliefs don't meet your approval, but like I said being mean and saying things like "fail" is not productive- it almost becomes bullying.

Camping for whatever reason was able to exploit the views of people and evoke fear that yesterday was the rapture. For me because of the amount of people close to me that have died etc. am a bit sensitive about people not caring about it being their last day, even if it is a big hoax. I felt maybe people were covering their fear with humour, because when you believe that this is it.......what is there to hope in.

I want to see my loved ones again, and I want to live a life filled with purpose. Just because I SH or am different in my views doesn't mean that I am afraid of someone telling me I am not entitled to them or that I "fail".
People shy away from conflict because it makes them uncomfortable or they are bullies. Maybe if someone had stood up to Camping it wouldn't have gotten so big worldwide.

I wish people paid as much attention to all the global warming predictions that never came true.

Flashback 2005: UN Predicts 50 Million Global Warming Refugees By 2010

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sh...#ixzz1N8h1GYJh

Back in the 1970's global cooling was the dire threat..

The Cooling World
Newsweek, April 28, 1975

There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production – with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now. ..The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down...

Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the cooling trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic. “A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale,” warns a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences, “because the global patterns of food production and population that have evolved are implicitly dependent on the climate of the present century.” ..

But how can people care about it being their last day on earth when there is no evidence that it is? If everyone acted like it was their would chaos all over the world and for what, something that isn't going to happen? Im not going to believe its the end of the word until someone gives some solid evidence, picking out some random numbers and making an estimated calculation is not solid evidence.

And the people that did believe? how many people gave up their life's, money home ect and are now left with nothing? they believed it was their last day, and it wasn't.

The only way someone can ever predict the end, if its something to do with a comet hitting earth or something we can prove. As for the rapture, no one can ever guess that. All of the end of the world predictions have never happened.
