or you could just not come in to chat for a week. that will give you time to have a breather. closing down chat is pointless and wont solve anything more active mods would be the only way to cut down the issues chat has i have only seen 3 mods in on a regular bases and one that comes in randomly it is far to much for 3.2 mods to handle.

Just saying in case someone with the power to do that reads this...
Bloody hell, I hadn't realised it was as bad as that. If it's any consolation, you're holding the fort pretty bloody well, considering.

Something for everyone to think about: If we just stopped with this sort of joke, there would be nothing like pressure to fit in. It's sad that even on here people feel too insecure to speak their minds.

These comments seem a bit unfair to me. Yes, there are people in chat who won't take advice on board, and that's annoying. There are people like that on the forums, too, and in that case I simply don't respond to the threads. In chat there's an ignore button if they annoy me too much.
Room 4 gets criticised a lot but really, it's down to members to improve it. I've had good, in-depth conversations in there, helpful advice being passed around, sympathy given... if everyone makes an effort and won't encourage drama-people, then it can work.

I must say I prefer room 4 over the general rooms. The conversations there give me a headache too often, so I don't spend time in there.

On a different note, agreed with Dreaming. - I didn't know there's only 4 chat mods these days. That's good work, considering the situation.

I agree that we need more mods.

However where you say 'more active mods would be the only way to cut down the issues chat has.' I cant agree with, there wouldnt need to be more active mods if people knew how to behave and follow the rules. Yes we need more mods, but we also need members who follow the rules, dont rise to the drama and have a little bit of respect for each other. Now that doesnt refer to everyone in chat, there are some really awesome lovely people in chat and everyone can have a bad day, but there are people who constantly break the rules.

I could make 20 people mods, but that doesnt solve the issue....kicking and freezing people isnt the answer, the root of the answer lies in peoples attitudes to chat changing.

On a side note, yes sometimes I have been harsh and rude to people in chat when i tell them to move. But you know, when you go into the same room 4 times in a day and its the same people over and over again and youve given them a million chances it really does get to you. People hurling abuse I can deal with, its the general disrespect that gets me. Also thats not me saying I should have respect because Im a mod, I would like to think I treat every person in chat with respect even when Im not modding.

What I would really like is for those people who consistently rule break to tell us why, whether PM or here. Im really interested to know what it is and why.It would help us out quite a bit.

And yes Jo it is that bad lol, were trying our best to keep chat going,Id like to take this opportunity to thank the other chat mods, its tough times but were trying to deal with it.x

I think chat could benefit from moderators being a presence more. Now, I know that chat mods are only human and have lives, so perhaps chat could benefit from adding more people to the chat mod team? Because it often seems that a chat mod is either nowhere to be found or comes in right after the issue is over...or to implement more of a "X number of strikes and you're out" policy where repeat offenders get themselves either temporarily or permanently banned from chat on a more regular basis. I often see the same people causing problems night after night and people often get beligerant when reminded of the rules by non-mods.

Adding more mods is like wallpapering over a cracked wall.We wouldnt need more mods if members knew how to behave.
