The bitsa that help blood clot. They like suck out all your blood and like filter it to get them all out then give it all back when you donate platelets.

Just wondering, how come blood donations go down when it's the World Cup? Whats the link? Am I missing something here?

I think they drop during the summer months generally anyway, probably just because it's better weather, people are out more, sports more, and generally busier and don't think to donate so much. And during the World Cup it tends to drop more because people are watching the matches more, or abroad for longer to watch the football (or any other sporting events, but football's obviously more major).
May be wrong though!

I'm not really 100% sure but I would guess with the World cup and summer weather people will be busier than they are at other times of the year, and won't be thinking about blood donation.

On a similar subject though what about registering for organ donation too!
Hum I looked into this and found conflicting evidence some saying you couldn't donate and others saying you could. Apparently because the medication I am on is used to treat epilepsy the risk of them having a fit is to great or something.
So whilst I waited for a prescription I saw a leaflet about this and rang them up today and said I was on this medication for bipolar would it be okay and they said yep it's fine so long as it's under control so yeah if you aren't sure you can always ring 0300 123 23 23

It was horrible, I left there feeling so bad about myself. Ended up piercing my ears that evening because I wanted to cut but wouldn't let myself so... also gave me a reason not to go back the next time they came around. And I didn't complain, but in hindsight I should have- considering she called a doctor who said there was no reason for me not to give blood. However, it was over 4 years ago now and hardly worth it.
And no, I wasn't being sarcastic - I really do quite enjoy fainting. I don't know if it's some remnant of self-harm or anything, but it's just generally quite fun :) Haha.
Strange child, I hate fainting :( takes it out of me for the rest of the day, plus its just quite humiliating that I can't tke one little needle...
