Uh, yeah.
I wont be using them. Re-using something like that, to me, is slightly disgusting.
Fair play to anyone who wants to, and please don't take it as an insult. Just for me, no.

How is it disgusting though? It gets cleaned in boiling water for 5 minutes. That eradicates any bacteria or anything that could be on it. It's completely sanitary. cleaner than a tampon which is basically a cotton bud sitting up there. And to be honest, it's just blood, I don't understand how people are fine with blood from their arm but if it's coming out of your vagina it's suddenly 'gross'
I'm not insulting anyone either, I'm enjoying this discussion :)
I have tried one, but it was so uncomfy. Maybe I'm just really small, but after the trauma of getting it in I had to keep trying to move it about so I couldn't feel it and failed miserably. And getting it out was about as hard as getting it in.
I can see the good in Mooncups if you are comfortable enough with them, but washable pads are just gross.

Well it's not "just blood" anyway...it's uterine lining & blood & other crap ....
Being absorbed in a tampon is a bit different to being held in a little...well, pot inside you, though maybe that's just me.
How you describe it does sound good though. You know, I'd probably branch out and try a cup if I was comfortable with "that area" but I'm not. At the moment, at least. But yeah, I suppose that does sound better than handling messy pads/panicking about removing tampons..

I'm comfortable with that area, but I would never try them - personal opinions I guess though
moon cups have always fascinated me.. and i do keep meaning to try one.. hmm... maybe i shall.
i dont see how tampons are any less gross.. yeah the absorb rather than collect, but youve still got it all just sitting in there for 4 hours or whatever,
Reusable pads do sound gross but I hate pads anyway, I don't care how it's addressed, it's just a nappy.
Some women are a bit small, that's fine. Some women aren't comfortable down there, that's also fine.
And I know it's not just blood, it's blood and tissue. Which just sits in the cup rather than blobs up around the tampon. I really think that something sitting in a cup just on it's own is better than being absorbed by a tampon with all sorts of chemicals in it, not to mention the risk of bacterial infections or TSS.
*Slowly backs out of thread*
Not much grosses me out, but for some reason this is just... 0_o
I'm sticking with pads.
There are millions of ways to help the environment other than this ...
Also, I don't understand why women who are completely comfortable down there and don't mind having something up there refuse to try it. What is it about it that puts you off? You need to let go of your first impression of it, I had the same ones, thinking it was gross and such but It intrigued me and I looked about and I got some opinions off women I knew had tried it and about 98% of them were positive :)
For me...well i just dont want something inside me. I'll stick with pads. For the record i find them disgusting too. I just dont want anything inside me. And i dont want rewashable ones, i mean thats more tinky than the mooncup least you wouldnt have to touch too much..well i dont imagine.
Because of various issues (emotional and physical period problems) I'm just looking for whatever makes it easier/cleaner/less scary when Mother Natures comes a-knocking but aren't mooncups expensive?
I know my Mum told me she didn't really want me using tampons because of Toxic Shock, but... if one cannot uh "work" a tampon, how is one meant to work a mooncup? :S
Because it's just generally making my stomach churn thinking about rank, stale period blood sitting in a cup inside me. I don't even want a cup inside me. Tampons are different to cups, most definitely.
Mooncups are super easy, there are videos on youtube to show you how. Mooncups cost about £15-20 each but before you all go "OMG NO WAY" these mooncups last you about 10 years, so it only takes a few periods to make your money back.

Just to me, i don't like the idea.
That's all.

Like i said, fair play to anyone who wants to use them, but it isnt for me.

How could it get stuck?! Like seriously, I'm fully ready to be proven wrong but I just can't think how anything smooth and silicone could get stuck up a vagina!
I'm pretty sure if you put it too high up and you can have issues getting it out but it' not a huge deal because even if you have to go and get someone to take it out, it isn't harboring a crap load of germs.
