I call myself 'a vegiterian who eats fish' becuase no one knows what a pescatarian is around here, I can't say it, and it's not by choice that i have to eat fish (we'll see what happens in two weeks when i turn 18 though)

I'm an 'athlete' at quite a high level in my sport, and my parents wont let me do the sport unless i eat fish.

I was vegetarian for 2 months once.

Then I broke up with her.

That aside, I really respect the stance vegetarians take, and most the reasons behind it.

pssst... the joke is actually "I'm a post-modern vegetarian... I eat meat ironically!"

I am vegan, have been for a year, was vegetarian for fifteen years before that.

And it's very rare to meet anyone - even a veggie - with a protein deficiency. It's a favourite omni argument! But truth is, we just don't need as much protein as people think we must (probably because people are used to meat making up such a large proportion of a 'normal' meal, I suppose). http://www.happycow.net/vegetarian_protein.html - more info there.

Vegetarians are heartless, unprincipled bastards! Think of all those cute little plants you kill for your own pleasure! The ruthless way you feed them all those hormones and fertilizers only to rip them in half as soon as they reach prime age. The Fruitarian is the only sensible diet, stop being cruel to plants.

have you tried Quorn scotch eggs? they are AMAZING.

my friend's a vegetarian and he went to an Australian BBQ, and Aussies sometimes struggle with the concept of vegetarianism. when he was offered food, it was all meat, and he mentioned he was a vegetarian. the person serving was like "oh... ... i'll just give you a little bit, then".

^hahahahaha^

I'm a vegetarian, and have been one (consecutively) 3 years in early August.

I tried to be a vegetarian for a while before that, when I was 16, and was one for 3 months before my parents made me eat meat! I got really sick from it though, and hardly ate any until I was 18 (just when I was forced). Gave it up for good when I turned 18 though.

Thank you for all of your help and support. I will no longer be coming to RYL. Semi-explanation will be inside my profile.

They are amazing, aren't they! But quite expensive, annoyingly.

And lol to your friend. That's not an uncommon reaction though, even here. Like, you'll mention you're vegetarian, and people will say "Well, I'll just get you some ham, then!" - "No, I don't eat meat" - "Not even ham?" "Ham is meat. I don't eat meat"

Ha xD

Yeah, I'm a veggie though I'm not that strict, so don't care about gelatine and eat the odd fish, though I generally don't.
