He might be finding it hard to latch and be so sleepy because of the jaundice that's what Lucas was like when he was born and he went under the lamp but only for a night the only thing that's was worried about with that is having to cover his eyes with a mask I thought it would slip off and he would be blinded and also the fact he couldn't wear a nappy so I got pee'd on a few times :p hope the jaundice gets better
I saw a doctor today about my back pain cos it got really bad a few days ago, I couldn't undress myself cos I had to stay like a statue to be in slightly less pain! I have to go see a physio and I got a fit note for work, so I can only do light duties. I also have to take paracetamol every 4 hours, but its not helped so far -/ I really hope it gets better and not worse. My work already don't seem impressed that I have even more appointments with the physio added in, but its not really my fault that they schedule all my appointments in the town where I live, it is a different council area after all! And so far I'm still using holiday days for my midwife appointments when I could just be demanding a half day from them due to the appointment times!
Nobody knows, nobody cares that I die on the inside
Nobody sees the lie that is me, as I smile on the outside
just read your birth story sharli, the tongue tie will affect his ability to breast feed, all they do is give it a wee snip, push for them to treat that ASAP! my friends baby had it and he fed really well after getting it treated,
and I know im a nit late but not managed to get on the computer but sunlight helps the jaundice, sit him in front of the window as much as possible, if your room is nice and warm undress him too.
Just a girl i hear you on the appointments my work were terrible for me taking time, they were always peeved when i left! I hope the physio helps, i had terrible hip pain that would bring me to tears so i can relate!
Thanks everyone - we've been doing really good until last night when he just wouldn't settle at all, he refused to sleep in his bassinet and was fussing constantly, wouldnt feed n had a clean diaper except for a few explosive poops!!! Really stressful, but he's been fine today, i just hope this isn't going to be a new nightime thing! x-x
D-licious - he seems to be feeding much better now so i think we'll just try him out without getting it snipped. Apparently its only mild anyway and he can stick his tongue out, apparently he just may not be able to roll his tongue in later life, which im sure he can live with lol!! and the jaundice is a million times better today, the follow up appt showed higher levels but with him being older he was no longer in the danger area. So glad he's not looking like a simpsons character anymore!!!
good idea on the window, i'll hang out with him there until it's completely cleared up, hopefully it can speed it along!
Shari! He is absolutely GORGEOUS! Congratulations!
It sounds like you're doing a fabulous job <3 glad the jaundice is resolving, it's really very normal for breastfed babies to get jaundice - just keep on with the regular feeding and you'll flush out the excess bilirubin (the yellow stuff) in his poops - that's why they're yellow
Just a girl - I really hope the physio appt is helpful - your work really don't sound supportive! Do you sit down a lot at work? if so, your work should be providing you with a foot stool, and it could help your back if you place a rolled up towel in the small of your back. Try to sit upright also, so you may need a lower chair so that the desk is in line with your elbows. There's are things your employer should do! But you may have to do them yourself x
Gideon is a week old already! Hes decided that night time is awake time so im getting zilch sleep, plus hes having a really hard time pooping, he is still pooping but way less n hes crying for like an hour before n is clearly in pain - it sucks so bad, my dr says its normal but its so stressfull seeing him cry like that :(
Chloe would scream for 13hrs before a poo. Are you breastfeeding him? Make sure you drink plenty if you are. Switching milk helped chloe colic went down to 6hrs overnight.

Mand, its not quite that bad (thank god!), yup im breastfeeding him n im drinking like a case of water a day lol! Poor guy hasnt worked out eating and breathing yet either n im terrible at burping him so that may be contributing aswell.
& on that note, how are you meant to know when they're done being burped?
Oliver was really bad at being burped. He would do a few little ones and hten nothing, and i would think he was done and then a bit later he would do a massive one, or a man sized fart or something. Or sometimes when he was super uncomfortable i would end up walking around with him and burping him for over an hour.
He was a complete ass hole for the first 5/6 weeks. I thought i might go mad from him crying, but, as lame as it'll probably sound to you now, you start to learn what each cry means and how best to deal with it.
Youre learning to be a mum, and at the same time, hes learning to be a whole person, but you'll both settle into it before you know it.
Hes learnt how to pull himself up onto his feet and so wants to do nothing but stand all the time. so instead of sitting on the floor like a normal person, he will just make himself stiff and refuse to bend in the middle so you either have to stand him up or lay him on his back.
hes so massive for being 6 and a half months old.
I keep seeing all the brand new tiny ones at baby group and wanting one just for a little bit. :P
I'm so mega body lol. If baby is not a sick baby good winding tips are to sit him straddling one knee and supporting this head from under his aarms, gently bounce him (stand your ffoot on the shaky nerve thing), also lay him on your lap and make him do ssit ups, or place stomach on your shoulder with head hanging down your back and holding ankles in one hand gently move up and down so his sstomach is rubbing over your shoulder. Also colic medications can make them burp well, chloe did huge burps with gripe
water and infacol

Elliot never got much wind. He'd usually have one burp then that would be it. Although if he got wind smiles I'd know he needed more.
Charlie, Oliver is huge! What weight is he now? He looks so tall! Elliot wanted to be on his feet from very young and althogh it's a nightmare at first it turns out fine once they're walking as it makes life so much easier!
Becky, jasmine is so cute. She always looks so content.
