Damn right. That feeling when I hear a sellout crowd singing the Sky Blue Song as the players walk out is
It looks so amazing seeing thousands of people singing along. I've never been to a football match, but I wish I could so much when I see it all on TV. Even a Brighton match would be good, just to experience a football match!

Heh, yes, point taken. France/Italy should be good - I think I'm hoping for another France/Italy final. I just like seeing all the England flags up, all the England merchandise everywhere, which isn't going to happen this year! It's a shame really, 'cos there are some really great England players - John Terry (who, imo, is one of the best defenders in the world), Frank Lampard (seems to lose his ability when he plays for England though), Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, so I think we should be getting better results, but hey...

Probably true, Chelsea have generally played well this season. But I still want Man Utd to win! I was hoping for a United/Liverpool Champions League final, tbh, but it should still be good...!
It is referred to soccer in other countries... So no-one got that wrong Interstella...
this is an international website remember; not just for us in Blighty!

'Not understanding it' is a very poor excuse... i shows a lack of interest and commitment!
Which maybe also why some people are more prone to watch sport, rather than participate!!!

I voted neither as . . . given a choice . . . I wouldn't watch either.
But by some twist of fate I've spent 18 years surrounded by football, rugby, cricket, golf, snooker. . . the list goes on. This is just down to growing up in a house of men and now I have a football-obsessed boyfriend.
I have watched more football, so probably understand it better. I have even been dragged to the games. Most recently I went to watch my boyfriend's team get spanked by Brighton a few months ago . . . and I couldn't believe (even if it is all part of the fun) the amount of abuse hurled back and forth between th fans and at th players!
So yeah . . . in an ideal world I would watch Eastenders . . . but I've accepted now I'm not going to escape it . . . but I won't embrace it either haha

“Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred."
Pooh thought for a little while. "How old shall I be then?"
"Ninety-nine."
Pooh nodded. "I promise," he said.
i'm not a sporty person- so generally neither
BUT
i understand football, and not rugby
HOWEVER
football annoys me, because it's SUCH a big deal
football players annoy me as well
rugby players are hotter on the whole (i'm not shallow!)
I played rugby at my uni in the US (second row, wing forward my positions were called here). It was fun except for the scrums and your face was in some guys butt. I love watching World Cup but really cant follow it otherwise.
Well Psyke, I sympathise with your having to grow up in a male-dominated sporting atmosphere. But, to get your own back, have you considered female mudwrestling (personally)!

WHAT? You must go! Although the TV cameras glamorize the game to be honest.

Hmm, Spain is my pick - although they should be playing the winner's of the GOD though in the QF's.

Meh, the media hype it up for retailers pockets, yet every realistic England fan knows they stand little to no hope of getting past the QF's.

Really? A poor start, carling cup final loss and not exactly dominant in the big elite 4 match ups. You knew they had the luck of (possible) champions when the miraculous malouda penalty at Anfield back in September.

I think every neutral wanted that to happen as well, but it was an amazing match at the Bridge.

Only the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Virgin Islands, Marshall Islands, Nunavut, Nauru & Christmas Island use soccer, the rest of the world use (the correct term) football.

I wish I could! No one I know likes football - my friends aren't interested at all, and my family hate football, so I've got no one to go with! I'm desperate to go to Manchester one day, just so I can go to a football match!

Also true...I just get excited by it all. E.g. atm, I am wearing an England World Cup Champions 1966 t-shirt, which I bought during the 2006 World Cup!

Again, also true. They've given Fabio Capello the target of reaching at least the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup, haven't they? Seems unlikely, imo, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. England do have the talent to do well, based on club performances, but they're using the wrong formations a lot (imo), and the defence is terrible sometimes.

I dunno - I don't even have Sky Sports, so I'm just basing my opinions on what I've read! I've only actually discovered listening to the radio commentaries online... I was listening to the Newcastle/Chelsea match on Monday, and I really thought there was a chance of Newcastle winning for a while, but Chelsea improved in the 2nd half - I think they do that a lot, tbh, but I think they need that consistent playing well throughout the 1st half as well.

what about being at twickenham and singing sweet chariot - best feeling in the world i was ther last saturday for the army - navy match. The stadium was half empty but the atmosphere was brilliant. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up when everyone was singing the same thing. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere - shame about the match
Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.

Tony.
Personally for me to participate in mudwrestling it simply wouldn't be fair on the other wrestlers as I'm fairly sure I could kick their muddy butts. But to elaborate anymore would be awfully off topic.
The football season is almost over woop!

Oh, undoubtedly. I think England is a lot like Real Madrid in a number of ways - many 'superstar' players that would not work in any formation or playing system to that of there club. Too many uncontrollable ego's - McClown said he'd get tough, so he axed one of the players, Capello says he'd get tough by axing the same player and yet the actual uncontrollable usual suspects remain and put in average performances game after game. Our defense or at least the one we trying to build on is fundamentally good, just not experienced at national level.

But it's the second that counts, plus at half-time Avram can try and improve the play. Fergie does this especially well.

I'm not that keen on either (prefer basketball) but I'd choose football out of the two.
I really really don't like English football. I prefer Italian football (as I'm part Italian). A lot of people would disagree, but whatever. Personal opinion and all that. I played football at school, only girl on the team and I had like 5 different Juventus shirts. I wish I still had them.
