My dad is a pain right now >.< I mentioned "I think I might learm how to drive..." and now he'll unexpectantly say, "put it in gear 3" when he's driving and i'm going "what? Huh? argh!".
My boyfriend's dad is like that too. He winds me up ALL THE TIME.
I think that's what dad's are for, hugs, and winding you up ^_^

You can't lose hope when it's hopeless.
You gotta hope more,
then put your fingers in your ears and go,
"Blah blah blah blah!"

But yes, I love my dad.

Seeing as my father ****ed off a loooong time ago and I haven't spoken to him since, I am going to say that Nat's father is amazing. End Of.

My dad has mellowed with age, and become much more understanding of me than I ever anticipated could happen 'back then'.
Part of this mellowing is to do with his not being in a work environment that stressed him. Part of it is because he lost his mum back in 2000. And yet another part is because I'm more able to express my feelings and needs, due to therapy. And yet another part is because my mum - his wife, had a stroke a couple of years ago, and he had to take care of her.

My mum's become more emotionally available and open to me now, as I have to her. When I was a child I always used to think mum and I were close, but really I had become an extension of her... Now I'm more my own person..

Awk, I like saying nice things about my dad.
I like other people saying nice things about him.
When you spent from the ages of 13 to 18 being an angsty c*nt, resentful and generally horrid and disrespectful to your parents, it's lovely when you finally realise how nice and human they are.

My dad is all i have. My mum always used to say we're exactly the same and that is why we argue so much. We're trying not to argue now its just us. Sometimes i think he might love me, but i always know he would prefer a daughter not like me, someone a bit more "perfect". He doesn't do hugs and feelings, never has done. He does try to help me with some things like filling in forms, etc.

He stuck around though and that has to count for something i guess.

Another one with a useless dad. But I don't see him too often and when I do he doesn't talk to me. So it's not too bad. My stepdad is ok. I guess. Well he's not that bad. I am distinctly lacking any good male role models.

my dad is nice =D
even if he acts a bit annoying,
he makes it up by saying silly things like
'so you were all debating...does that make it mass-debation?!'
he is childish =D
and likes to tell me about his days as a mod =D
haha he is a funny man.

eh, my dad never hugs me, saying that nor does my mum. I can't remember being cuddle since like some when in primary.

My dads okay, He's great with my daughter and takes her swimming once a week. I'd like him a lot better if he was a lieing cheating ****, but there we go.

Parents actually hug their children? o.O

I much prefer my dad to my mum. He can be an arse when he wants to but he can't help that =) I'm definitely a daddy's girl. Always have been. My mum knows how much I hate her and the feeling is mutual. 'Sall good stuff really.

Oh and Tony tut tut for that stereotype of mums in your first post. Maybe it's just me but my mum generally doesn't do any of that stuff; I do.

The only good thing my fathers ever done for me is teach me the basics of surfing.
Apart from that he's an over critical, nagging bastard, who wishes he had "normal" kids. So **** him, mums the word =] love my mum.

And he just proved I learn from him too much. After we [mum/me/brother] told him to stop talking because we were watching The Apprentice, he proceeded to say "Fine. I'm going to bed.", storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him, and stomped up the stairs. Upstairshe proceeded to slam every door he could and went to bed at 9:30.

And I'm supposed to be the teenager.

everytime i ask for anew cd (oooh,odd-skool), my dad googles the band and emails me silly lil reviews of them. he also makes up mock-essay titles for my degree (because fine art essays have some pretty darn pretentious titles) ^_^
so yeah, probs abit weird to some, but i adore my dad because his attitude makes it easier for me to be abit eccentric myself...
and if this thread were about mums really, my mum would be kicking some butt, because she's raised me a proud feminist, lol!

My Dad is m best friend and my worst enemy- we're just too similar to live together, but now I'm at uni, he's just awesome :)

He took me to see Hawkwind, takes me down the pub (and buys all the drinks!) when mum's out and helps me with anything maths/physics/electroncis related :D AND gives the bestest hugs everrr.

Wake me up before I change again
Remind me the story that I won't get insane
Tell me why it's always the same
Explain me the reason why I'm so much in pain.

My dad is awsome, communication could possibly be better but we talk when we need to and we are both happy with that. I can go to him with problems, he coped incredibly well when I needed stitches even though he can't stand the sight of blood, he waited until I was ok before fainting, bless him, he knows when I need a hug and I don't even have to ask, and he helps me out finacially when I can't afford to it. Without him I would be lost. My dad kick arse :) we share the same taste in music aswell and a love of motorbikes, we were both devestated when his got written off :( and he's been a great dad to my brother as well.

My mum rocks aswell though so it's all good :)

PM ME - I always welcome a random PM :)
