I went to see the recording of the BBC3 Boosh documentary thing, and Noel/Julian did some live stuff before and after, including a quick crimp in which they said 'honey monster no no'.
Didn't understand untill I saw the crap advert.
It is just an advert, but it's like... creative theft.
E.g. if you made up a joke and told a friend, and then the friend told everyone without asking you/took credit for it, you'd be annoyed.

Not sure that made sense! But yes, I was irritated.

I don't think "crimping" is The Mighty Boosh's idea anyway.

They just called it crimping to make it sound like it's theirs. I've heard people doing stuff like crimping before The Mighty Boosh was even created!

The Mighty Boosh has been going for years and years and years.
And their style of doing little rhymes is definitely THEIRS and they called it crimping just to give it a name. And the Sugar Puffs people made a blatantly obvious direct copy of it. It's not even a homage to it, it's just taking their style of rhyming and re-doing it, badly.

It's a bit like a musical artist stealing bits from another musical artists song.

Isn't free styling or whatever it's called basically the same thing? =\

No way. What does the honey monster say, something about tiny puffs of the sunshine princess? It's so trying to be Boosh-esque it's unreal; they have all these cute references to completely obscure things. And the bit where they say 'sugar puff sugar puff' is in the exact same rhythm and style as 'I-am-gazpachio-o' from the soup crimp.

I don't think anyone who hasn't watched Boosh is in a proper position to comment. [on the crimping copyrightish issues, obviously fair enough if you're saying it's just an ad; if you're not a fan why would you be annoyed.]

No it's not the same thing, Nat. Crimping is sort of a Boosh adaptation of free styling that they have kind of crossed with Scat Singing as well. They make references and rhymes of the most bizarre and random nature. As Emily pointed out as well they've blatantly stolen rhythms from very famous Boosh Crimps.
Listen to The Boosh crimps and some guy freestyling, you'll see the differences.

omg,i saw this on tv today and was in total shock.
(then felt kinda stupid)
but it appears ime justified, and other fans and the boosh themselves are unimpressed. it does seem like an odd way to target their market as i always assumed that boosh fans were older than the average sugar puff eater.
i can only assume that this is a clever way of causing wider spread advertising through the boosh fans backlash...

The youtube comments are hysterical, I just read one where someone put 'next you'll be telling me the hairy yellow bastard has a mangina'...

...I almost weed myself.

Actually, only since 2004. Sugar Puffs started in 1957.

I'd like to hope most 'thinking men' wouldn't enjoy TLOG.
It's hardly intellectual and thought provoking.
It's a pile of arse.

About the Boosh thing... it made me cringe.
Eugh.
