i have been referred to a CPN...im not to sure either what they do :S

i think they basically just come see u and check on how u r doing.
is it long til u r 18?
if u cant wwait til u r then maybe u cud ask to be referred to adult services now.
sometimes we dont get on wit professionals....it takes time to find the right one. xx

I'm doing mental health nursing and have had a placement working with a CPN. The one i was with acted like a care coordinator so we visited her clients to see how they were doing and helped monitor meds and things. Also helped organise seeing psychologists or other professionals that might be helpful and helped with practical things with money, housing, work etc.
I can see why you don't wanna go back if they treated you like a child. Hopefully things will get better when you move to adult services, although personally i didn't find them so good with providing therapy, just drugs mainly.

The fact that ur over 16 means that you are legally responsible for your own health! If u insist on seeing adult services I don't see any way that you can be stopped, you should not be placed in the position of having to see child services at the age of 17! Also under no circumstances can ur doctor or any professional discuss any manner of ur care with ur parents! This would be highly illegal and unethical and they just wouldn't dare do it!
CPN's or to give them their full titles COMMUNITY PSYCHIATRIC NURSES do exactly as their titles suggest they are psychiatric nurses who work in the community! They liase with your psychiatrist, GP to help you the best way that they can! they come out to see you at the house, if u wish it!
Even just having them for an hour or two a week to talk to can be of a great help! They are in civillian clothes (so they ain't going to turn up in nurses uniform) It is important however that you find someone who u can gtrust so that you can open up to them fully! Only then will u give the best chance of allowing things to improve!
But please I beg of you to keep taking ur medicines and if u get any more suicidal thoughts go to ur local hospital or if you want a live conversation the Samaritans are very good listeners! you'll find their number in your local phone book! you can call them for the cost of a local call! Also we're here so keep in touch and let us know how ur getting on!
Ami, it can be hard when you feel the whole world is against you. But why do you think that you are the one they would choose to want dead?
The friend in your head is only ONE person, and you know, you should never believe what one person says if it's something like that....even if they are a friend. You have a right to ask people yourself if they want you dead, because after all - it is your life!
Maybe you should ask your parents or your psych why people want you dead, maybe they can help you to understand whether this is true, and to understand why your friend tells you this!
Have you thought that maybe this friend is someone inside you that is suffering? You could always try and help them?
It is best to understand things before you take action.

Listen sweetheart, I'm gonna tell you something real simple, but really true. NO ONE wants you dead baby. This board is just one small section of the world and look how many people are concerned right here. You need to be honest with your doctor...I know it can be hard but you can't go on suffering like this.

You've got so much support here and I really don't have a great deal to add, but only to extend the fact that I care greatly about you and would hate to see the world lose a beautiful and charismatic person such as yourself - and these are just qualities I've picked up from seeing you on forums!
Please, do take good care of yourself, and if you feel you are in danger of going through with these irrational actions, don't wait till it's too late (that kinda rhymes!) and tell someone as soon as you have these thoughts, let someone in so they can rationalise the situation and help you out.
You deserve to get through this babe - keep fighting.

Honey alot of people care about you, and wouldn't want anything to happen to you sweetheart. Is there anyone in 'real life' who you trust enough to talk things through with?
I'm sorry your appointment went so badly.
Is there no way you can tell your mum at all? She migh not react the way you expect. I can see that your doctor is worried if you have a history of overdosing, but it sounds like he's just trying to cover his own ass, but is definately not trying to kill you, in fact it's the opposite i'm sure, he's trying to keep you safe. I had the same thing when i was with camhs my mum had to look after my medication, actually i think even for a bit while i was with adult too, it did suck but i guess it kept me safe.
It really sounds like you need something to help you but i can't really think of any ideas at the moment other than telling your mum so you can have some medication.
I'm really sorry i'm so useless. This must be really hard for you hun.
Are you still in full time education? cuz i know if you're not you can be refered to adult services from 16.

I'm so sorry your psych appointment was so unhelpful, but I promise he wont be trying to kill you. Did you try explaining to him that you wouldn't OD on prescribed drugs? Or that you only take other things because you are trying to self-medicate?
I think looking into the CPN thing would be a good idea, maybe she can suggest another way for you to get prescribed meds, like if she kept them or someone at your school, or maybe at the GPs or something?
I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you but I just wanted to say please try and stay safe and keep talking to everyone on here. There are so many people who want you to be alive and happy. You really helped me with my post in here a couple of weeks ago and I bet there are tonnes of other people who you've helped or made smile.
