I just wondered- now you're on the 'other side' of nursing, you're the one writing the notes, being in handover, looking after patients, I wonder if it will give you more of an understanding into yourself and your own experiences? Just a random thought. I'm glad it's going well!

Sarah, it may well do.
When I was looking into working in a hospital, my CPN said it might be good for me to be on the 'other side', not entirely sure of the reasons but I can see how it would be helpful :)

Sorry to bump this
Had a good day at work, apart from one thing which went pretty wrong.
It was during my training, there were 6 of us in there and the trainer.
At one point, I heard her say something very offensive towards me,like a personal attack so I replied 'what the hell?!'.
But everyone just turned and stared at me, which made it obvious that she didn't actually say anything, I had replied to nothing.
I was mortified.
Carried on as normal after that but I'm sure they probably told the other staff.
I really can't risk that happening again. What if they tell the manager? How am I going to explain that?!

Glad the day wasn't too bad, but can understand how that was. Could you pass it off as not understanding something or reading a text or something..?

I'm not sure how I could pass it off as something else, I was meant to be focusing on what she was saying. And I was looking directly at her.
She was ok with me when we had the break and all went out for a cigarette. It wasn't mentioned again.
The manager wasn't in today so I'm worried when I'm in on Friday that she'll want to talk to me or something. If she's been told.
I don't want to lose control like this. I don't want everyone to think of me as a total freak already.

Try not to worry about it, they'll all have forgotten tomorrow. It's very unlikely they'll mention it to the manager and that she'll want to speak you about it.

Maybe you could say you misheard her..?
