My appointment with my care coordinator was cancelled because she was off sick. So that puts that off for a little while longer.

But i will be bringing Othniel with me next time i see her. i'm supposed to be open and honest with her so...

Thankyou for all your support with this. And it is good to know that i'm not alone with this, and so none of you are alone either. Hugs to you all.

My councellor is lovely with my bears, I have 3 of varying sizes, Charlie the largest is my favourite although I make clothes for all of them. In councelling if I ever start to clam up or don't know what to say she uses them for distraction. Chrissy the middle one is often in my bag, so I can hide her under a jumper or in my bag, I feel safer with them around to comfort me

I do this too; I have lots of childlike behaivours. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing though, because I cope with lots of different things pretty well, and if having some childlike behaivours helps, I feel like that's ok. I've never brought it up with a therapist though, because I was too embarrassed. My last therapist used to talk to me a lot about 'self-soothing' and ask me to think of ways I could self-soothe, but I was never brave enough to actually tell her. I have a special toy bunny I sleep with, although to be honest, I usually sleep with around three cuddly toys, and my room is full of cuddly animals. I have a dinosaur collection like some of you guys! Three of them: Clementine the triceratops, Clemency the brontosaurus and Cicero the baby triceratops. I love dinosaurs. I also (much more embarrasingly) have a baby blanket I like to hold when I'm stressed or tired or worried, and I sometimes take it with me if I have to go somewhere I find difficult (like I used to take it to uni hidden in the bottom of my back). I also (more childish and embarrassing of all) suck my thumb. I didn't do it when I was a little kid--I started when I was 12 after I was r*ped--but now I can't stop. It's the most comforting thing for me: calms me down way better than any of the distress tolerance skills I learnt when I was doing DBT!

Rosy - I suck my thumb too, I never did as a child - most often when I've been stressed and calmed down to a place where I feel safe and comfortable, the only person that see's my do it is my counsellor when I can't seem to help it (and she doesn't mention it)

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has the thumb-sucking habit! It's always good to hear there are other people out there. :)

i'm seeing my care coordinator on Wednesday.

And i am definitely taking Othniel with me. [He was very pleased to hear that others of you have dinosaur friends! :) [@Rosy]] i don't care, she'll probably be rude about him but i need him and i should be able to be open and honest with her.

Oh and i suck my thumb too sometimes. i sucked my thumb constantly all my childhood until i was about 11 and my orthodontist said i had to stop. i still do sometimes, it's very comforting.
