I read the book yesterday - it was amazing =) I thought it dragged a little at the end though - Im curious to see how the film matches to it

Sarah: Give me the child.
Jareth: Sarah beware. I have been generous up till now. I can be cruel.
Sarah: Generous? What have you done that's generous?
Jareth: Everything! Everything you have wanted I have done. You asked the child be taken, I took him. You cowered before me, I was frightening. I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn't that generous?

I really liked the book - up until the possession part, anyway! I just found that plain creepy, though alot of the reviews I read found it romantic

it was towards the end when susie took over ruths body and kissed that guy (forget his name...) it was when mr harvey was dumping susie's bones into the sink hole...

I thought that the movie was pretty good, but I thought that the symbolism was way on the heavy side.

I hated the movie.

I felt every ounce of me screaming out,

I'm just 50 pages into the book, I know I will read it quickly but I have actually really struggled to get past the first chapter, considering I knew what it was about I am surpised. But will keep going with it!

You made up your mind to torture mine!

upon the young girls skin.
a trail of red weaved deep,

the book was amazing, and the movie is equally so. it plays on your emotions so perfectly. in the murder scene, it drags out so much, in a good way. i don't know who plays the murderer but he does it SO WELL. it's been weeks since i've seen it and last night, i kept waking up, thinking he was standing outside my doorway. he's so good at that role!

heaven wasn't what i pictured it like in the book. i pictured it as a much more sad place. that being said, i need to reread the book.

mark wahlberg steals the show. i also admired the performance by the guy who likes her.

there are several scenes that leave you on the edge of your seat going 'NO!'

the suspense is amazing.

*SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING*
SPOILER HIDDEN

The following content has been hidden - Reason : SPOILER

At the end, when the murderer is getting away, it makes you (made me) angry. susie's sister got the evidence- all of it- and he left. susie's parents moved on and he wasn't caught. he drove away. and it's been a while since i read the book so i forgot he was fated to die. i was pretty sad about that. as well, when they let him put susie's body (in the safe) in the landfill while her friends were watching. but then the end comes. he tries to do it again. and the icicle hits him, he falls backwards. you see him break his neck on the boulder. you hear the crunch. you see him laying there, a pretzel, in the snow. and suddenly it's a little bit more okay.

in short, if you read the book, go see the movie. they didn't change enough for it to make the difference. like i said heaven didn't look like i pictured it. but it was still beautiful.

I really liked the book.
I don't remember a whole lot about it though, it was quite awhile ago now that I read it.
I'm a little hesitant to see the movie though.
I've heard that it's a lot... darker? than the book was.
I don't know, I'm still contemplating on whether I'll watch it or not.
I'm glad to hear not very much of it was changed though, I hate it when they change so much from the book to the movie.

I remember enjoying the book but I don't remember much aside from the basic plot. This movie's been getting awful reviews and I don't really understand why. Of course they changed things from the book, they have too, even just because the book covers such a long span of time. But I think the cast did a really good job, the cinemetography was great and I enjoyed it. And some people saying that the heaven scenes took away from the actual plot...well, I think I needed those sweet frolicking in the grass and "fashion" scenes in between the tears and murder investigation! It was sweet, and showed just how innocent Susie (and Holly) really were.
