The fact is, I am very bitter about the restrictions on me in the ED Board, as it forced me to go to pro-ed websites, where there are no restrictions, which then lead me to spiral even more downwards.

Numbers are not a bragging tool, unless you are a very sick and manipulative person. Someone who is going through the same illness, I cannot comprehend, how they would use something that I admit, is a low blow, against some one.

But I don't go on the ED Board anymore, anyway. Too bubble-wrapped. I want someone to slap some sense into me; not to pat me on the back and tell me 'oh, everything is gonna be okay. it's normal to do this. you're just fine as you are.'

That is hardly a matter for you to decide?

You don't like my opinions, then don't question them. And leave them be. They're not hurting you, and there's no point being awkward and turning this into a whole debate.

You had two choices. One option was to accept we do not have numbers and continue to post. The other was to visit a pro-ed site. That was your choice and your responsibility. Not accepting that is the same for those "stupid people" who would use RV to trigger themselves. I think it sucks you went to a pro site, I wouldn't wish that on you nor would I wish your illness to get worse. Maybe if you tried the ED board it could help you get it going the other way.

Hell, let's kick all people off the ED Board who aren't recovered/in recovery. Wowzers.

Basically, as Sammi said, they arn't comming back. We had teh New Rules veiw thread and the vast majority of people voted to keep numbers banned, so that is how it's staying. If you feel you need numbers to express yourself, you can do so in private (like on LJs). Posting numbers publically is competitive, and RYL is about recovery, and the two are pretty much polar opposites.

Apart from the trigger labes possibly being changed (and the numbers, which are definatly not being changed), what else would people like?

because numbers and EDS do NOT go together they are purely competition.

Are you actually joking because I found that post very very VERY offensive and cant believe you had the guts to post that.
Love, read my post correctly, and you'll find I was saying, anyone who DID use them as a bragging tool was a sick person.

no one does that.. no one posts here and people turn around and say "your fine as you are" no one atall so i dont know where you got that from... we dont pat people on the back other sites do that maybe but not this one...

lets look at it this way...

lets say i posted saying i lost X weigh in a week.. you telling me you wouldnt want to beat me? cos i know if i saw this i would....

if i said i have X to eat today... X to eat yesterday.. you saying you wouldnt want to beat me or try this.. cos i would.... and i know im not the only one?

i dont see a point in numbers or weight... i really dont, and not cos its very triggering but becasue well, it doesnt matter how much we weigh we still have food probelms XXX

and when i said numbers = no recovery..fact.. thats not what i ment but we..

anyway.. im moving on... i said what i had to say............................................... ..

i cant think of anything we could add to make it diffenent really, XXX

Yes i think the labels need to be changed.
No i don't think numbers should come back.

I also wondered about the restrictions on r&v, what are you NOT allowed to post as such? Other than numbers i mean? Because that's all that i mainly disagree with.
And although in the past i thought the banning of "ana & mia" was a good thing. I'm changing my mind.
I guess because i see being able to name the thing your fighting, as meaning you acknowledge that it is something you CAN fight.
I hope that makes sense.

No, I wouldn't. I don't have a problem with numbers or weight but my own, and I accept and understand how hard people do find it, don't get me wrong!

I KNOW numbers aren't coming back, I was just simply stating an opinion that I know isn't too commonly shared around here, simply talking about the bubble-wrapping of the forum.

But, you can still name it, just by it's 'proper' names?

That's true, but I do admit 'ana' is a term of affection, because I do love my illness. I'm not proud of it, but it's true. I just don't see why we're not allowed that in R&V

Fair enough. I just think when your ranting your don't really "think" about putting the correct terms.
But i understand your point.

Liv I can understand what you are saying. But what about ranting on your LJ instead.

I can also understand why the terms ana and mia were banned to stop people personifying the disorders. But equally I've noticed people now talking about anorexia or bulimia as if they were a person as well. Which I think is equally as worrying but then equally we can't ban the actual names of the disorders.

Numbers I'm not a fan of. Foodlists I can sometimes see the logic for, such as when someone is discussing what they are trying to eat to gain weight/making an effort to be healthy. However I also understand they are an easily abused tool with people posting competitive lists of mammoth binges or ridiculously minute quantities of food.

The reason ana and mia arn't allowed is because they're pro terms, and it's what the majority of the comunity wanted. I think, Liv, you've said yourself why they're not allowed. They're terms of affection, which isn't really suitable for RYL, because even if you're not recovering, RYL will not 'econcourage' people to get worse (i put the 's in because i'm NOT saying that by you wanting to use the terms ana and mia you want to encorage people to get worse, just to clarify)

Foodlists are allowed if set by a professional/very recoverey based and healthy (often this is at the moderators discression as to weather we remove it or not)
