i like your name because of the greek myth of cassandra. She's my favourite mythical character.
you probably already know the myth, but i'm going to tell you anyway
story time!
Cassandra was one of the daughters of King Priam of Troy. She was really really beautiful, so Apollo (god of prophecy amongst other things) wanted to sleep with her. She said 'okay, if you give me the gift of prophecy', so he did. But she had tricked Apollo, and told him that she actually didn't want to sleep with him. Okay, so the deal is, the gods can't take away a gift. once they've given a gift, they can't reverse it. So Apollo couldn't remove the gift of prophecy he gave to Cassandra. However, he could taint it. Under ruse of kissing her, Apollo spat in her mouth, which cursed her. She could still tell the future, but nobody could understand or believe her.
This was around the time of the Trojan war, and when the Greeks won this war, Cassandra was taken as a slave by King Agamemnon (because she was so beautiful). While Agamemnon had been at war (10 years!), his wife Clytaemestra had been having an affair. She was basically very mean and had been plotting to murder her husband. When he arrived home with Cassandra, Cassandra could see her fate, but nobody understood her. She had visions of her and Agamemnon murdered by Clytaemestra, but still nobody understood. Her visions came true.
... i didnt say it was a happy story.
On the positive side i'm listening to Patrick Wolf
