If the carrier isn't what you feel comfortable with then do buy a sling you would like.
I loved the first time I heard my babies heart beat. I went and bout a heartbeat monitor Sony could listen at home. Really was so nice an reassuring d
Dairy has come out of my system enough for my son to breastfeed but I'm having trouble getting him to latch onto me for milk after using a bottle for a while. He will take my expressed milk from a bottle spin know its not to do with my milk. Anyone any ideas how to get him wanting to latch on for full feeds. ?
sam can you put the carrier on and then put baby into it? the straps for those things wouldn't even go halfway round me which is why i ended up with a wrap. pram/dog walking is a nightmare and i don't do it as the dog is scared of the pram! try holding a 3yr old's hand too! so when the dog gets walked all 3 of us have to help hold the lead (or there are tears) but the girls love running about the field with Smudge and they are so happy when they shout her and she recalls to them, they catch her and roll about in the grass soooo cute! until the face licking/kissing becomes too much! lol!

hi girls, not been in here in a lonnnng time, i doubt anyone remembers me and i deleted alot of my posts, my little boy is 16 months old now. having a bit of a slump with life at the moment which has brought me back to ryl.
im in the north east and the sling library is good, gives you the chance to see what works best for you, each sling is different and it takes some time to find the perfect one i think, i use a connecta cos its easy but mega supportive and i can still carry my boy in it on my front or back. :D theres various natural parenting groups dotted about the north east too, and people there will be able to advise and share slings, generally on a smaller scale too not as many people.
So, we took Faith swimming today and she loved it, was trying to swim by herself, she was even trying to push my sisters hands away so she could do it herself...However, she still panics about going under the water (she fell under it at one point in the shallow end because she was having too much fun). Anyone got any ideas on how to encourage her to not panic when she goes under...I know there's water babies but I really can't afford the classes just now xx
she's likely too old for water babies, a toddler swimming group are usually run by individuals rather than a big company and so are cheaper, how about a rubber ring so she doesn't go under? chloe used to love swimming but now won't even sit on the side and dangle her legs in, even tho ella is running about having a whale of a time

How old were your little ones when you first took them out on your own?
Elliot is nearly 12 weeks now but I've never took him out alone. I've taken him to the doctors on my own and I've taken him somewhere where I had to spend 30 mins alone before I met someone but I've never been out of the house just me and him with no appt or intentions of meeting someone.
Is this normal? I thought it was until I spoke to someone with a kid who seemed to think I was some sort of crazy loon!
Seriously this parenting stuff makes me feel more and more weird than I ever did before.

hey Nic,
like mandy said she is too old for WB now they have to be less than a year when they start, toddlers go through a stage when they dont like going under water, does she mind being splashed? maybe work on that and get her used to having water on her face in a fun way, have you tried her with arm bands? Saul really likes the long foam pole float things at WB they call it a woggle, dont know if it means anything to you, it took him a while to get used to it, put it under his arms and then i gently support it (cause hes to chubby to float on it himself) and he will kick towards me, this gives him alot of freedom

Saul was quite young when we first went out, but dont worry about what other people do, all mummies and all babies are different and you need to do what is comfortable for you both, sounds to me like you are doing just fine, there is alot of instinct in being a mother and if it feels right it probs is, just try to enjoy it and dont waste your time worring about whats normal and whats not cause its different for everyone
hey Nic i meant a rubber ring round her waist not sat in, chloe went under/face down with armbands on when her feet slipped so that's why i suggested ring vs armbands.
you could try one of the swimming costumes with floats sewn in, or a float and help her learn how to kick.
Sam, make little 'going out' trips to go to somewhere - like 'lets walk to the park' or 'lets go feed the ducks' or 'lets go to the shop and buy mummy a bar of chocolate' or something... i think i'd feel a bit silly just wandering about without an aim - maybe its a personal thing.

:/
naw he doesn't eat all the foods he even likes as well, i have tried letting him eat his own dinner but he just messed with it and ends up on the floor, i might give the money platters a go and see how it goes but he wont eat, its really starting to worry me i hope he goes bk to eating all his dinner and breakfast and snacks very very soon
Finally caught the lil guy smiling big on camera. I think its too cute not to share He is 3 weeks old today, starting to sleep better and eat better. he is almost back up to birth weight.

We had her kicking, etc. in the pool. She doesn't mind being splashed in the face. I'll even put the shower head over her head and let the water run over her face and that doesn't bother her, its just the shock of going under the water I think that does it.
Shivionie, Faith is 19 months and is a fussy eater. She started being really awkward to feed around 12 months. My HV told me to offer the same sandwich as an alternative to what she was eating, but realised this soon defeated her purpose as she was starting to look for sandwiches at dinner time instead. What I have done instead is not give her pudding/sweets/biscuits if she doesn't eat her meals. Instead she'll get 9oz of cows milk and a yoghurt at night.
you can buy bowls that have a suction cup on the bottom to attatch it to a highchair/table etc so little ones can't tip/throw their bowls, when my littles go through a stage of not eating i put their food on my plate and let them sit on my lap and'help me' clear my plate. at the mo ella will eat if she can get it on her fork, otherwise she messes about so i end up feeding her, she loves sweetcorn but struggles to pick it up even with a spoon and refuses meat unless i make her eat it, but is better with potatoes now, so long as she can pick it up. chloe on other hand will eat the meat and the potato and have to be helped with the veg. Chloe's on iron supps coz she's anaemic which was causing her hair to fall out, i don't know why coz she has an iron rich diet and plenty of vit c for absorption... so why would she be anaemic? GP doesn't seem concerned about finding out why.
