That does sound really awkward and annoying. With the DS, I find that the controls only work well if they're entirely (or at least almost entirely) touchscreen-based, or entirely button-based. It kind of falls apart when you try to combine the two, because it's just physically difficult to use the buttons and the touchscreen at the same time.
Exactly. Hunters came out in like 2006 I think so it can somewhat be forgiven in the sense of trying something new etc, but how no one pointed out how bad an idea some of the controls are is beyond me.

I see this game all the time, I'm quite a big rpg fan so I've considered getting it, but I've had friends tell me that they really didn't like it and I see it had pretty mixed reviews. Is it the one that has a battle system similar to that of final fantasy XII? Or am I thinking of something else?

I've played FF XIII it has a somewhat similar fighting style to it, but not really, its more of a tactics based system, you have to look at your opponents, take into account how many there are your strengths and weaknesses, theyre strengths and weaknesses, and then decide what to do based on all that data, you don't get to choose each characters individual attack, which can be a nnoying if you just want to devestate someone and instead they want to use nothing but basic attacks, otherwise it has a random timed hit critical system, which can help sway, or keep the combat in your favor, for instance if you go into battle, you have 5 people in one group attackin, but the enemy attacks after the second person, and 4th person there is a chance that the first or second can get a timed critical hit, if you succeed at hitting that timed critical you'll do whats known as a "teamwork hit" meaning that as long as you continue to successfully hit timed criticals, your team will continue to attack one after another, also you have timed blocked counters, if your character blocks or dodges an attack there is a chance he will automatically counter strike. With every battle you also have a chance of capturing monsters from the first fight, unlike most games where you have to train some skill to do so, which you can then either separate for components or keep and sell as a whole to shopkeepers. You can chain battles, by either positioning yoursel correctly between many enemies or using the "time shift" ability your character has, greater risk= greater reward, so the higher the chain the more and better items and experience you get. So it has a few drawbacks like to start battles sometimes takes a while, not being able to control individual members and such (reason behind that is because you're sometimes controlling 50+ people in a huge war) and the storyline from what I've played is rather lackluster, but somewhat interesting because it's different.
If you want a game where you want to feel what it's like to issue attacks to multiple squads of an army, while still being a great RPG system with some pretty decent graphics, its a great game.

Oh right, yeah I'm thinking about something else that plays similarly then. That does sound interesting. I think I might get it.

Currently playing LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. It's a good game, but it seems very... cluttered. If you want 100% completion (and I do) you need to go through the levels at a snail's pace, because you have to break everything to get enough studs. And there's a lot to break. I have a feeling the developers did that to make the levels seem longer, but it didn't work. They're still short, just very, very slow.
Finished playing 'Rage' thanks again, Michael. Now I'm 'The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" enjoying it so far but some of the scenes are rather, well adult. I'm guessing there was probably an influx of sales from horny teens.
I dusted of my old Super Nintendo and it still works! I just spent the entire afternoon pretty much reliving my childhood playing Super Mario World, Sunset Riders, Mortal Kombat and little bit of Link to the Past, so much nostalgia!
I also ordered We Love Katamari off Amazon today, I hope it doesn't take too long to get here I love the quirkiness of the Katamari games, I feel like i'm on an acid trip from just watching the opening movies haha

Started playing Red Dead Redemption, it's exactly like they said, it's like playing the best western movie you've ever seen

If you get it i recommend getting the PC version over the console version. It was more balanced and you could use all of your Generals in battle whereas they wouldnt allow you to use them on the 360 version.
Cuz we all spend half our time running around, f*cked out of our minds
And we spend the other half sleeping at desks and praying just to get back...

My SNES is constantly attatched to my Telly ;) The area around my TV is really far too cluttered though, but I just can't put any of my consoles away.
I've started playing Oblivion, I'm not very far at all as of yet. I can see this game taking up a lot of my time, I like to complete everything in a game, might have to not be so extreme in this case though.

I've been playing We Love Katamari for about 6 hours straight, my head is spinning and I feel like i've been on a massive acid trip but holy crap this game is addicting!

It's meant to be almost exactly like the first game, but more polished and improved. I expect there will be some bugs and glitches though since it's brand new.
