Louise, my HV told me to put a rolled up towel underneath Faith's mattress as being upright slightly helps colic (like Berni said).
Consider the velcro swaddling thing. We never used it for Faith but if I had another baby, I would definitely use it.
If the Doctor Brown bottles don't work then I think MAM do a good bottle too and there is always the Tommee Tippee anti-colic ones that you can give a try.
Hope Joshua feels better soon.

Right, quick question...Faith is now crawling and rolling over and when we put her down in her bed at night time she moves around so that she's on her front and falls asleep like that...Should I just leave her to sleep on her front or turn her over?

Nic

hi louise,
you could try a tummy tub for the colic, we got ours quite cheap on e-bay, its like a bucket and when baby goes into the warm water it is easier for them to bring up the wind, Saul was not particularly bad with colic, but every time we put him in he did a big burp! and have heard good things about them, it was the midwife that took our anti-natal class who recommended it.

Nic, Saul has been sleeping on his front since about 4months, we were worried at first as he could not roll back, but he would cry in the night and we had to get up and roll him back over, thankfully he soon learned to roll back, and now he sleeps all over the cot and in some really strange positions, so i don't think you have anything to worry about

That makes me feel a bit more at ease, Debbie. Faith's been sleeping all over her cot at night time and during the day. Darren went in to get her from her afternoon nap today and she was on her knees so I think we need to think about lowering the cot down now cause it doesn't look like it will be long until she's pulling herself up onto her feet.

Poor Faith isn't well again...She only literally just got rid of a cold (like at the end of last week!) and has caught another one!

oh Nic, the trouble is just about to start!!!!
i think as long as faith is in a sleeping bag and doesent have too many toys in the cot she will be fine, if she can get herself over and back again then there is not much you can do!

She hasn't been in her sleeping bag for a while, Debbie. She prefers her fleecy blanket to sleep with...She pulls it up towards her face and cuddles it. We're lowering the cot this week as mum noticed today when she was in by that she doesn't think it will be long until she pulls herself up.

Going to have to take Faith to the doctors tomorrow...She's caught conjunctivitis from the nursery as its been going around. Didn't know it had been until my sister told me today (she works there). You'd think they'd tell you something like that!

Hey all,

i've watched this thread for a while but never posted properly before.

I've recently found out i'm pregnant. I'm only 6-7 weeks but i've already had a scan as i was bleeding and had miscarriage before christmas. Everything seems fine and baby had good strong heartbeat so my fears have been reduced a lot.

I have a few questions though. As i was so early they done the ultrasound vaginally and since then i've had a bit of cramping. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Also i've read a lot but what do people actually find helpful for morning sickness/ nausea? I find it hardest first thing and around 10am when im hungry but the nausea is horrid. If i keep my stomach fairly full i seem to be ok but i feel like im eating constantly (although its mostly fruit).

So yes :) woo im in the baby club!

congratulations on your pregnancy! sorry i dont know much about internal scans, i have never had one.

i found ginger biscuits good for nausea. ginger is widely used for morning sickness and i have known many a sceptical woman who has ended up swearing by it! keep some beside your bed to nibble on when you wake and have that before you get out of bed. keep some in your bag for when you are out and about. i also found hunger a trigger for sickness so its best to graze on (healthy lol) snacks during the day. dont worry about eating constantly, the sickness will eventually pass, if you are eating healthily it wont be a problem. just dont fall into the eating for two trap lol, because then you will have a lot of weight to shift when baby makes its appearance! eat when you are hungry though, just dont over do it :)

Thanks guys.

I have another few questions if that's ok. Firsty does anyone know how pregnancy differs if your overweight? I put on a lot of weight on meds and never managed to lose much of it and now I'm worried the professionals are going to look down on me for being fat. I am trying to be healthier but right now it's kinda controlled by my nausea.

My other question is how does having mental health problems change your pregnancy? Either by professionals or just how you feel. Did it make you better or worse and did people keep a closer eye on you? Is it still ok to have therapy and stuff even when it causes stress? I want to do what is best but not sure what that is!

I'm thinking of starting back at swimming As I've heard it's good for us but I need some sort of long sleeve costume and I can't seem to find one that isn't forkids. Hmmm.

So many questions I'm sorry!

Blackrose I hope your pregnant too if that's what you want. Xxx

17 days? That seems quite a long time.

I felt it yeah but only because I'd been pregnant before and knew the signs. I tested the day my period was due which was exactly 14 days after conception if that's any help.

Xxx
