Aww, don't feel left behind :( My SO and I are actually being told we're quite crazy for getting engaged being so young and only dating for a little over a year.

Congrats and do what you want not what convention dictates because if you and your man are happy then that's what counts.

i got the 'you hardly know each other' comment from my mother when i got engaged to my partner. i was 18 at the time and was living with him but our relationship was still fairly young. but now she knows jamie and im now 22 and still engaged - though i have had to temporarily take the ring off as i put on weight! argh!

I've been married for a little over a year, im 23. we got together when I was 20 and he was 23, though we've known each other for my entire life. we got engaged when we had been together for a year and 3 months and got married 9 months after that. Though I only actually booked and planned the wedding in 4 months. I don't think it's weird to be engaged for a long time, do what's right for the two of you, don't be dictated by anyone else. We didn't have an engagement party so can't help with that sorry! We didn't really budget for the wedding, though his parents gave us £3k and my mom paid for my dress, the total came to £3.5k and we had everything we wanted so it is actually possible to have your dream day without spending a fortune. feel free to drop me a pm about wedding stuff, happy to talk about it all day lol.

i know of people that have been engaged for going on 20 odd years. :) its persoanl preferance
