And you are the only person repeatedly going on and ON about the same issue Cryptomnesia. To be honest....it is getting dull. If you have an issue then take it to the mods rather than posting and taking up space in threads that other members find amusing. Why does it really matter?
Liv I don't that that suggestion is bullying, I think that's a helpful suggestion. I'm saying that going into others threads and quoting the same thing (in this case, the "rules") in a deliberate attempt to bring negativity into the thread could be seen as targetting, given it's happened in two threads on the first page when you could have gone other ways about it, such as contacting Jess personally.
I simply agreed with a member, who posted before me the same thing. I don't see why I'm being targeted here.
I wasn't talking about the suggestion part Aimee. I was talking about the 'oh yes, your thread is so much funnier now we have people to laugh at who are just making a point.'

The thing is, I don't care at all, and can't figure out why anyone would unless it triggered them, or they thought the person needed advice and would get a better response in another forum.
In other words, this is a nonissue.
i think the majority don't have an issue with posting them in GC, but the minority who do will just keep shouting louder and louder until this turns into an all-out flame war.

i agree with this, but i also agree that its hard to start a discussion based on a joke, and i suppose general chat is for having conversations.
I dont understand though why if people have a problem with something, instead of interupting their thread they dont just:
a) talk to the member
b) talk to a mod
c) ignore threads in general from that member.
If you hover over the title of a thread, it tells you what the first few lines of the thread are, so you would never need to go into the thread, let alone make a post in it.
The other thing with joke threads, is that because it doesnt generate much a conversation, there will be a limited amount of people that are going to reply with 'thats funny' so the thread will drop of the page quite quickly.
From what i can gather the only reason this came up is because someone RECOMMENDED it go into Fun & Distractions as there seemed to be a constant stream of joke threads.
It makes more sense to me also for it to be moved to F&D and make it an ongoing thread - plenty of people check out F&D so it's not like it would go unnoticed.
I personally don't see anything wrong in posting a single joke in GC every once in a while. Harley's Dad posts jokes every so often in there and the threads can go on for ages. However, if it's going to be a lot of jokes, you could always put them all in one thread in GC. If you want people to post their jokes too (as the *aim* of the thread), put it in F&D.

Aye Chels but i think the point of this thread was the OP was posting them on a constantly regular basis, and the title of the threads weren't always clear as to the content - so you can't know whether they are/aren't jokes.
It was recommended to her that she start a thread in F&D as she was posting so regularly - which makes more sense.
I don't actually post jokes that often! And I rarely go in fun and distractions. The one that i started in Vets General was a lame jokes thread and that was after a few of us had been posting jokes back and forth to each other. From the way some people talk, it's like i post hundreds of jokes all the time. It's not a constant thing

That's fine! I can pop a joke warning in the title. But if you don't like it, don't post in it and bump it back up again! They fall off the page fairly quickly!

Personally speaking; I've popped into f&d a couple of times and found them all to be tedious quizzes, as a result I leave that forum alone as I find it doesn't offer me anything I find "fun" or "distracting". I like the random joke posts, and I would certainly miss them if they were posted into f&d as it isn't one of the forums I pop into as I was turned off by the quizz-like threads.
Honestly speaking, it isn't a constant stream of joke threads that are posted in general, by Jess or anyone else, I find it more unusual than usual to find one.
As was said by someone (name blank-sorry) above, this is a non-issue.
