this pretty much.
in serious/support i think "pointless" posts are still kindof sweet.
it's pointless posts in general that annoy me more.

these
they dont do any harm
if you take away the pointless yet probably comforting posts tbh you are going to get rid of a hell of alot of replies.

id rather have a hugs, thinking of you than nothing.
yes it can be annoying if thats all you get , but at the end of the day its better than nothing.

I think it depends on what the poster is saying. If they're asking for advice and they end up with a bunch of "I don't know what to say but let me know what happens xxx" posts then it seems a little pointless and makes me kind of mad. But if someone is just venting or letting people know of their situation those posts are fine. That's my opinion.

Pointless threads annoy me a lot.
Especially ones where the thread started actually says 'i only started this for the sake of it'
Pointless posts saying things like 'i dont have any adivce but wanted to let you know i read it and pm box is open' etc etc i think are nice.

I make pointless threads in general *shrugs* Sorry if it's offended anyone?...

What actually can we post nowadays?

And I agree with Jo but I typed this in the short reply and couldn't quote. :)

they're not offensive. i just think there would be more point to them if it wasn't literally just "this is a pointless post, thats it." but like, even if you just added a story about your day or something funny/interesting that happened, or a question or something like that.
but that is all down to personal preferences. and idk, because your "pointless" thread went up to like three pages so i guess some people think that they're cool.

burn it down.

If a thread doesn't have a point give it one! With talk of sweets and pineapple juggling...

You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

My days are never funny and interesting... the most interesting thing that happened the day I made it was probably making that thread. Though I do know what you mean. Usually I can think of something, that day I just couldn't.

Wow. I'm lame.

This was pointless as well. rawr.

I wasn't taking it personally at all :)

And a bit more on topic - now I think about it, we do have a "hug" feature for support threads.. but I guess a reply is a reply and a thought is a thought.

The problem here is, if you have about 5 post all saying they are suicidal and not giving much detail, then you obviously are going to end up repeating yourself. Ive done that at times because there is only the same thing you can say over and over without much more information.

I've no problem with people ending up repeating themselves. However what I have seen before is people copy/pasting exactly the same reply into all suicidal threads in serious for example. To me that smacks of just wanting to get yourself noticed as a "caring" person and seems a little insincere. Replying to threads where you happen to offer the same advice is completely different kettle of fish.
