I want to say yes let me be normal, but part of me says no
if it wasn't for everything then I'd obviously be someone else, the friendships and relationships I have with people would be different, I might be strong and confident but I wouldn't be the weird guy they know and love
so I'm saying not sure
yes. absolutely
i don't care for the person i am or have become.
i know i would have been a totally different person had i been born in a different time and place. i like the idea of that.
i don't feel that i'm a good person..or that my understanding is only there because of things i've been through.
it may be amplified in certain situations, but compassion isn't only there in people who've experienced trauma...
where is this button.i've been looking for it for a long time
Everything I've been through has made me who I am today.
I've been able to help a lot of people in my real life because I got sick and started volunteering. Yeah it sucks, but I don't know. I wouldn't get rid of it.
It's the children the world almost breaks that grow up to save it.

Yes. No hesitation there. I would miss out on this website though and that's introduced me to some awesome people which would really be a shame.
For instance, if that shooting at my school hadn't happened, I would be there now entering my last year of my degree. My life wouldn't be the shambles it's in, and I'd be all right.
Christ I would go back at the drop of a pin to be quite honest and I wouldn't feel guilty about it because this is not who I am, this is a hinderence to who I am.

yes yes yes.
The following content has been hidden - Reason : well, this is a general forum, dont wana depress anyone :p
i want to wake up and my first thought not to be am i breathing properly, where does my chest hurt, can i breathe.
and then i want my second thought not to be oh no not again.
yes.
i want to not be covered in scars. i want so many things to be gone because i also feel this is a hindrance. i have become so weak physically and mentally because of all the stuff that's gone on, and it just....sucks.
so yes.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
The most painful traumatic stuff I have gone through is directly linked to some of the most beautiful and euphoric.
So yeah, here's another question. You have the choice to get rid of the horrible traumatic painful thing, but it means taking away the most beautiful thing you have ever felt. What do you chose?
But if you never felt the trauma in the first plce your life would have taken a different path and you prolly would have experienced beautiful things in a different way. *nods*

I would choose to keep the pain and the trauma. Because after all, it's what brought me to meet the most beautiful thing. On the balance of things, anything's worth it if it means I can find true love, and someone who cares. Now I look back, I can't see my life having taken another path, because I can link a lot of my life to what has happened to me now.
I'd have to say that sometimes I would want it all to go away because I would have alot more freedom... but then I would still be wanting it and it would definetely be alot harder to get past all the pain in my life if I hadn't gone through all the stuff I have already If that makes sense

Really well put and how I feel too
GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE
THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN
AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
It's a tough one..... All my life has been up hill and sometimes i have wished so hard that for once, just for once, i would be able to sit back and relax. But no. I won't push the button. I have to believe that all the pain and hurt is for a reason. There has to be some sort of sense in this. I can't bear to think it is meaningless and i could change it in a heartbeat if i was able.
Even in pain, despair and utter loneliness there is beauty to be found. There are valuable lessons to be learned. You grow more as a person through hardship than by taking the easy way out.
And mostly.... It has taught me not to be afraid of death.....
No, I wouldn't. I'm 21 now, and have had problems with eating disorders, self harm and depression since I was about 12, and despite the fact that they have dominated my life for so many years I wouldn't press a button to get rid of them. They have made me who I am, and I genuinely believe that without them I would be a different person...potentially someone whom I didn't like. I think my experiences have given me a great deal of empathy.
The one part I would take away is the hurt I have caused my friends over the years. Sometimes I wish I could find the words to express how much they mean to me.
Oh and to answer prophetic star's question: I would choose to keep the pain and trauma, as long as I can keep the euphoria as well. It's the great times that make life worthwhile.
I don't know.
Right now i'd do ANYTHING to make this feeling go away.
But if I erased it all, i'd erase alot of my friends and my girlfriend.
So no, I don't think I could.
Even if I continue feeling this way, I couldn't do it.
I would do it. Yes it means I probably wouldn't be friends with some of the people I am friends with now, and it also means I wouldn't have done/experienced some of the things that I've done in my life, but I'm ok with that.
What I have isn't just depression that may go away some day, it is something I'm going to be dealing with for the rest of my life, on multiple medications. My illness does nothing but hinder me, and if I could get rid of it, I would do it.
Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.
I would undo it ALL. My whole life. I hate the person I am, I'm a selfish bitch who can't even walk out of her house without having a panic attack.
I'd undo it all...
The abuse my parents inflicted on me
The adoption
The bullying
The diagnosis of AS
Those girls trying to kill me during a swimming lesson
Both my grandma's dying within a week of each other
The anxiety
The depression
The suicide attempts
The self-injury...
EVERYTHING. I want to be a new person, start again. But sadly I can't do that. My life has been f***ed up from the start...
This thread has actually made me cry.
"How can I be a gynecologist? I can barely look a woman in the eye!"
