Dear Kim,

My 3 year old doggy is going out on Saturday and wants to look fabulous, and i was wondering what the best mascara would be to use on a Staffordshire Bull terrier? Should i go for the Rimmel or the No7?

Also could you recommend a good blusher for a hypoalergenic grass snake with flatulence please.

Thanks
Matthew

I wouldn't say I've ever tried to put makeup on an animal! We don't really get taught about cosmetics at vet school. More about how to look after things & make them better (&kill them)!

Putting them down is the fun part, according to my local vet. He spent a whole half an hour telling me, what he thought was, an amusing story of a ferrel (sp?) cat been put down through some sort of dart thingy. And it started running which makes whatever is used take effect quicker and that amused him? Bear in mind he was putting my cat down while telling me this, and that he was getting some sort of kick out of telling me. Only a vet would do that >.> lmao

LOL!! That's not exactly professional. I've only put a couple of animals down but I've seen many die and I wouldn't think it's an enjoyable part of the job but many vets do start to develop a warped sense of humour about it to cope with it so they can say some strange things

You're one step ahead in your profession then

And I think it's because I rarely show emotion so he thought I was fine with it lol.

To get into vet school we have to be a bit weird. I hadn't actually had any sort of a holiday except for the odd days since I was 14 because of work experience/ all my voluntary work and things until i started vet school and last yr (when I had to take time out of uni) was the first time I've actually took any prolonged time out really (aprat from i suppoe the summer before that). I've spent a lot of time over the years with vets and have mates who work with animals etc and so I've got my warped humour from them really

Well im really not impressed by your lack of cosmetic knowledge. What the hell are they teaching vets these days? Bovine, equine and canine deportment used to be the things that set this countries great vets like Rolf Harris above all the rest.

no wonder this place is going down hill!

*storms off in a huff*

Rolf Harris, great vet... LOL! I'd hate to work with that guy. He almost had his head in whatever dog they were operating on!
