Among other things they act as referees between the female bitching that goes on while the poor bloody man is trying to watch the Six Nations Rugby without interruption. The women can watch "how to stitch knickers" all morning as far as I'm concerned, if that's what really turns them on (I can't really believe it does - or am I living in another world?)
But for God's sake let the menfolk have their harmless little moments too. And we still need our ironing done!
Tony (who as a trout fisherman can cast a cunning fly - and it seems to have caught one or two!)
I want to go and hug my dad now but he's at work. I think I'll wake up for when he gets in just to give him a hug and tell him I love him.
My dad is the best dad in the world. He realises i'm 'growing up'/grown up. He'll pick me up at 2am when i'm smashed outta my head and can't get home..He lets me live my life and make my own mistakes but he's also protective and daddy hugs are the best hugs cause they can indeed make anything better. Me and my dad have a closer relationship to me and my mum..which is odd as we have a very complicated (not nice) past
Life can be beautiful if you let it.
Step back, breathe and take it in
I love my Daddy!!
He taught me all the "dad and daughter" things. how to ride a bike, how to BBQ, how to fix the car when my mother can't get it to start, how to pump gas, how to build things that aren't a danger to anyone, all the really important things!! Plus, he only ever yells/gets mad at me when I REALLY deserve it:)
My dad is like 1/2 deaf, and he can convinently only hear me sometimes. It quite funny. My mom will be fighting with him and he won't hear a word so my mom will be like "talk to him!" So I'll practically whisper and he'll hear me. He also unlocks the door when I forget my key at 11:30 at night (which is late for me:P).
some of my friends are kinda scared of my dad, because he can't hear. But that's only until they get to know him and then they love him <33
A great big hug for all the daddys/daddys to be on RYL <3 (or who have someone they love on RYL)

Tony, I understand you're joking in order to ruffle a few feathers but as i'm not in the mood to be ruffled I shall take offense and leave this thread.
i love my dad ^_^
he's awesome :) and basically raised me and my bro single handedly from the time i was in 1st grade to end of 6th
my mum on t'other hand.
“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
I have been his secretary for the last 18 months and beyond having slight irritations we have got on fabulously
I have him wrapped around my little finger!

dad's ARE great...when they are more than sperm donators, when they dont tell you "you;re a f*cking idiot your firut SUI attempt, when they dont get pissed at you, rush at you and flip the chair youre sittingin so ahrd you need hsop. cos he gve you concousion,....i could go on..bu i think you have the ideas...
rom,p
My dad's the best... he's a royal pain in the butt sometimes, and his ideas grit on my nerves, and yeah, he lives on his own little planet which means he doesn't remember from one day to another what you've told him...
But still.
I think perhaps there are more threads about mums because in our very backwards childhoods, they were in the foreground? I don't know. I don't remember my dad ever taking an interest in me as a child, he worked too much.
Um, my dad has his moments. Tbh i'm sure if I was less of a "teen angst going to shut myself away in my room for my life" daughter, our relationship would be better. We don't do feelings.
I have taken after him in all the worst kind of ways resulting in very heated arguements over small things such as loaves of bread.. but still. He has his moments, and s'all gravy :] And since my mum got ill he's been a gem to her around the house etc, he does the washing when he can / the ironing / makes dinner for me and my brother some nights / all those tasks that you said were up to the mother ! *wags finger in a Becca/Nat fashion*
And yadayada everything as an angsty teen that I complain about my parents doing they only do 'cos they care eh.
"Be nice. Think happy thoughts. Champion silver linings. Love all things (not just cute things like babies and kittens) & when you do love - love like they do in power ballads (you know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you'll never know love like this). Watch out for dog poo. Smile at people - even grumpy ones. Remember anything is possible & whatever you do always try to look on the bright side."
My dad owns to be honest.
He's like Father Christmas - according to Becca.
Like a large friendly grey haired guy.
But yes... my dad pretty much takes care of my mum, not that she actually needs taking care of ¬_¬
He cooks, does the washing, hoovers, walks the dog - is a general go-for person. He's so whipped it's not even funny.
But yes, I love my dad.
^_^
I love my dad. Hes paying for me to better myself and further my career,he would do anything to support me. Hes the strong silent type so we dont really do feelings apart from sometimes,he once told me when my sister and i were born he bought us both a huuuuuge boquet(sp?) of flowers so that the 1st flowers from a man we got were from him-no guy has ever bought me any that have matched up to those ones yet :P.xx
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
Ah, my dad's alright, but we do have her moments. Then again, I don't know many teenagers that don't!
As for what he does around the house though, well! Hm! He likes to start DIY and never finish it, as well as promising to do DIY and never starting it. Apart from that, he doesn't really do that much. Like the stereotype says really, my mum lives in the kitchen whilst my dad lives outside or near a screen. Haha.
He's also rather opinionated, which can be both good and absolutely terrible!
As far as hugs go though, he can give good hugs if I'm in the right mood and all that. Although, despite the fact he has a stomach, it's a bloody hard one so giving him a hug is not always that comfortable - not that it happens that often, though.
But yeah, I think I'd go insane without my dad. Okay, so he's annoying & crap at times too, but my mum and I jar a lot and although he sides with her it means one parent I don't jar so often with!
