Chapter 5
Mikey walked back to the group feeling defeated and confused, his brother had never spoken to him like that before. I'm mean like yeh sure they fought when they were younger but never like that, never for no reason. All he had done was go and see if his big brother was okay.
Maybe he was just going through a phase, Maybe he just needed some space. But deep down Mikey knew it was more than that, he just didn’t want to admit that too himself.
Gerard reached his house with a minute and slammed the door behind him. He didn’t mean to shout at his younger brother like that. But he couldn’t help it, all his emotions just caught up with him at once and he just needed to vent it, and unfortunately for his brother, he came just at the wrong time.
Gerard ran down to the basement which he had claimed as his room before they had even bought the house a few years ago. He sat as his desk and took out a pencil and paper and started drawing and sketching. Drawing was his realise, it helped him get his emotions out and it helped him think. But today it didn’t help, it just made him confused as ever.
Frank. That was the only thing on his mind and it just wouldn’t go. He eventually gave up, today drawing was getting him no-where just making him more confused.
Back on the field it was still lunchtime and Mikey had rejoined the group.
"Hey Mike, what was up will Gee?" asked Ray looking concerned.
He had to make up a lie and quick, he couldn’t tell them about that random outburst, the whole group would get suspicious then, especially Tom, and if he was suspicious he made sure that he found out what was going on using any means possible, Usually his tatic was to take them out and get them rather drunk, that way he would just simply need to ask questions and he would get his answers.
"Nothing, he’s just feeling under the weather" Ok so it wasn’t quite a lie. Gerard obviously wasn’t himself today. He glanced at Tom, he wasn’t buying it. Time to change the subject before they started asking more questions "So what were you guys doing?"
"Nothing much, Frankie here was just telling us about himself" replied Amy, who was sitting in Bills lap beaming, his hand entwined with hers.
"Yeh carry on" said Hannah curling upto Mikey, which made him automatically put his arm around her in a protective manor.
"Well like I said, I just moved here with my family from New York because my dad got a promotion, I don’t know really what else to say?"
"Tell us about you, like music and stuff" smiled Bob playing with his lip ring.
"Well I like the misfits and black flag and used to sing in a band called Pencey Prep before I left New York, we weren’t big or anything just something for a bit of fun. Oh and I might aswell tell you guys now, I'm gay" Frank said looking at each individual looking for a reaction to his confession.
"Sweet" said Tom and the others agreed.
"What so you don’t mind me being gay?"
"Nah, Gerard is as good as gay, look at the eyeliner and the hair" said Tom laughing, earning a glare from his brother who had his perfectly styled hair down and his eyeliner perfected like a professionals. "I don’t mean you bro, yeh you wear that **** but your with Amy so I know your not Gay, Ive never see Gee with a girl let alone kiss one"
This time it was Mikeys turn to have an outburst, he needed to protect his brother.
"Just because he wears make up and has long hair doesn’t mean he is gay, just because you’ve never seen him with a girl doesn’t mean he is gay. He just respects girls and isnt a player. Hes just looking for the right one." Even if Mikey hated his brother sometimes, he always stuck up for him.
They shut up after that and Frank just sat there looking uncomfortable.

Chapter 6 Frank spent the rest of the day in a daze. He barely even noticed when anyone spoke to him, he couldn't get Gerard out of his head or more how Gerard had acted towards him. The bell rang signalling the end of the lesson and the others had told him to meet them by the tree they'd been under at lunchtime. He made his way slowly towards it and was greeted by Amy and Hannah. "Where're the others? They not coming?" asked Frank "They'll be here in a bit" said Amy smiling "Ray's probably trying to stop his fro eating someone or something" The three of them started laughing when Ray and Bob came over followed by the others. "Let me guess, more jokes about the hair?" Asked Ray trying to look serious but failing "Aww Ray we love you really!" laughed Hannah "And your crazy fro" "So" said Bob "I'm guessing pratice is out today so, what're we gonna do instead?" "We could go back to mine" suggested Frank hopefully. They all agreed and started off towards the gates. They got to Franks house about 10 minutes later. "Wow you live right across from me and Gee!" Beamed Mikey "Wait isn't that Gee over there?" Asked Amy suddenly, stopping and pointing. Bill looked over in the direction she was pointing, "I don't think so" he said putting his arm protectively around her as they started towards franks door, "I don't think so either" Tom agreed with his brother, "Gee doesn't have a girlfriend, and those 2 over there sure look close" Just then the boy who Amy had been pointing at looked over in their direction and looked away quickly, pulling the girl he was with, into the nearby house. "Amys right!" exclaimed Hannah, "That was definately Gee!" "Don't be stupid!" laughed Mikey, "Like Tom said, Gee doesn't have a girlfriend. Besides if he did I think I'd be the first one to know." Hannah glared at Mikey "If that wasn't Gerard then why did he just disappear into your house then?" They all looked at each other for a minute when Mikey said "I think we should just leave it for now, it's probably just a friend of his and I don't really feel like going to him anyway after he....." Tom narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Mikey "After he what?" "After he felt so ill earlier" said Mikey quickly looking at the floor "C'mon Frank lets go inside" They all piled into Franks house and started look around, when Ray noticed Franks guitar in the corner of a room. "Cool you play?" he asked "Yeah," smiled Frank "I wasn't just the singer in Pencey Prep I played guitar too." "Awesome!" Grinned Ray "You should come jam with us sometime" Frank nodded and glanced at the clock, they'd been here for about half hour now when something caught his eye out the window. Frank walked over and looked out to see the girl from before leaving Gerard and Mikeys house. She look back kissed Gerard and then disappeared off down the road. "Hey frank you ok?" asked Bob "Yeah" said Frank quietly. He looked back out of the window and saw Gerard standing in the doorway smirking up at him...
Chapter 7 "Hey frank man you ok?" asked Mikey walking towards where Frank was standing. Frank shook his head and quickly turned around.
"Yeh I'm fine"
Across the street Gerard watched Frank turn away from the window, he knew the new kid had saw the kiss. He don’t know why so happy that Frank saw, it wasn’t as if he wanted to make Frank jealous was it? He shook that feeling that was becoming very familiar out of his head and walked back in side and to his bedroom.
He didn’t know why he had done that, he usually wasn’t into one night stands but today he just felt like he, he needed a good lay and he had, but it wasn’t as satisfying as he thought it would have been. He lay on the bed and closed his eyes, waiting for the sun to go down and the night sky that he loved so much to appear.
"Hey Frank we’re heading off now" said Bill motioning to him, Tom. Amy, Hannah and Mikey. "We’re heading over to Mikeys, we’re staying the night so why don’t we meet up and walk to school together?"
They all agreed and said their goodbyes, soon after Bob and Ray left too, leaving Frank alone in his room. Sure he was happy he had new friends but he couldn’t help feeling they were all hiding something from him, but he wasn’t going to pry he had only known them a day, course he couldn’t know everything already. But he had a feeling and it wouldn’t go away.
The 5 of them wandered across the street and went into the Way household. Bill, Tom and Amy went into the lounge and made themselves at home on the various sofas and chairs.
"Hannah, go and sit in there a minute I need to go and talk to Gerard" Mikey said motioning towards the door that lead to his brothers bedroom.
Heading down the steps, Mikey knocked on the wooden door, he knew from previous experiences that its always best to knock on his bedroom door if you wanted to make it back upstairs alive, his brother always liked his privacy.
The door slowly creaked open and Gerard stood in the doorframe and allowed Mikey into his room.
"What do you want?" Gerard said, slightly irritated, why couldn’t people just leave him alone?
"I just wanted to tell you that we’re going out tonight for food, and considering you haven’t done it in ages we thought you might want to join us?" Mikey said, trying to avoid the real reason he came down here, he didn’t want his head bitten off just yet by his brothers razor sharp teeth.
"Yeh sure whatever" there was no emotion in his brothers voice. "Is that it?"
Mikey sighed, he was going to have to confront his brother wether he liked it or not.
"Gerard, whats gotten into you lately? First that ****ed up outburst in the Park and who the **** was that random girl you brought back into the house?"
"Firstly its nothing and secondly, she is none of your damn business" How dare he think that he had to explain his own actions to his brother, he was ****ing 18, he didn’t need to explain anything to anyone.
"See, your doing it again,"
"Mikey just **** off" Why doesn’t he just drop it? Seriously little brothers are so annoying. Gerard made a mental note to put a lock on that door.
"Dude, Frank thinks its all his fault and that hes done something wrong"
"I don’t ****ing care what he thinks now get the **** out of my room"
Finally Mikey got the message and left.
Later that evening when Gerard had calmed down a bit and the night sky was shining over the city, Gerard emerged from his bedroom and joined the others in the lounge who were watching TV and he smiled, no matter what, his friends and his brother were there for him, these were the people he was closet to, sure he loved Ray and Bob but with these 5 people in front of him he had a special bond that couldn’t be broken. He remembered what Mikey had said earlier about going out for something to food.
"Shall we go then? I'm starving!"

Chapter 8 Frank sat there in his room, his eyes glued to the clock. He wasn't really watching it because when he glanced up he realised how much time had passed. He bought his hand up to brush his hair out of his face when he realised his face was damp. Frowning he walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror, his eyes were red and his face was tear-stained. He didn't even know he'd been crying or why he'd been crying. All he knew was that he desperately wanted to be accepted by his new friends but especially Gerard. He didn't know what it was but he just felt drawn to him, he wouldn't say it was just attraction, it was something else that Frank couldn't quite understand. Frank was shaken from his thoughts when he heard his parents arrive back home. He quickly washed his face and went downstairs to greet them.
"FRANKIE!!!" Came an excited squeal.
Frank grinned "Hiya Jojo. Did you have a good day?"
"Duh it was just school. You know school sucks Frank!" said Jo rolling her eyes and hugging her big brother.
Frank laughed again. "How about you honey?Did you make any new friends?" Asked his mom.
"Yeah I met some really col people." Said Frank forcing a smile onto his face.
"Anyone like you?" Asked his father smirking evilly at him.
Frank glared at his father and then said "I'm gonna go upstairs, I don't feel too good."
"OK sweetie, you look a bit pale." Said his mom ruffling his hair as he went past.
Frank started up the stairs and heard his mother say "You really oughta lay off him. He's your son. I thought we'd talked about this." Franks father just grunted in reply.
Frank went into his room and threw himself on his bed, staring at all the boxes he was yet to unpack. There was a soft tap on his door and Jo poked her head around and then came and sat beside him.
"You OK?" she asked "You look so down."
"I'm fine." Sighed Frank "I just wish dad would be more accepting y'know. We used to be really close, but now..."
"Ignore him frankie, I love you just the way you are and so does mum. You're an amazing person. Just take no notice."
Frank smiled and hugged his younger sister tightly before she left the room.
He was about to lie back down when he heard voices outside, he rolled off the bed and looked out of his window, to see Gerard, Mikey, Amy, Hannah, Bill and Tom walking back into Gerards house. He lay back wondering where they'd been and deep down wondered why he hadn't been invited along.
He must have dozed off because when he opened his eyes it was just starting to get light outside. He walked over to his window and looked out, just in time to see a dark figure vanishing from the roof opposite.......
Chapter 9 There was no point in getting dressed now, he had school in a few hours and he wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep anyway. Slowly Frank got out of bed and got a fresh set of clothes out from the closet and headed towards the bathroom. After shredding the now day old clothes he stepped in the shower and let the hot water run down his body.
Across the street the 5 walked out of the Way house hold and over to Franks. Gerard stayed at the back behind all his friends, he didn’t know why but he didn’t want Frank to see him, he had no sleep last night and had giant bags under his eyes. He didn’t know why he cared so much about what the new guy thought of him, but for some reason he did. He had this urge to impress him. He wished it would go away, but no, instead that feeling of nerves came over as Franks front door opened and the teenager walked out with a piece of toast in his hand, followed by a girl a bit smaller than Frank and obviously a bit younger, with a slight smile on his face and made his way over to the 5 who were leaning against his garden wall.
"Hey guys" Frank smiled "this is my sister Jo, hope you don’t mind but she is going to walk part of the way with us"
"No problem" smiled Bill.
And with that they headed to school, and said their goodbyes to Jo as she headed off in a different direction half way into their journey.
"So guys, were did you go last night? Asked Frank, he really was curious about were they had been, although it probably was none of his business anyway.
"Oh umm y’know to get some food" said Bill rubbing the back of his neck.
That was strange.
"But theres no food places open at that time of night" Frank said raising an eyebrow.
"We know this, um place" said Amy trying to think of something quickly in her head
Frank could sense something was going on and got suspicious but decided to drop the subject for now because they obviously didn’t want to talk about it.
"Hey Mikey, Gerard, I swear I saw someone on top of your roof last night" Frank really wanted to find something out, he was determined that by the end of the day he would.
"Oh um that’s probably just the neighbours cats, hes kinda large and likes to sit up there" Gerard said as they arrived at school, That was the first sentence Gerard had said all morning "hey guys um I'm late yeh see you later’ and with that Gerard darted off. Leaving the remaning 4 to look at each other and it was like the were communicating and having a conversation with looks and not words.
Frank just stood there very confused. He decided he would confront them again later and not rest until he found out what was going on. Sure maybe it was their private business and they might want to keep it a secret because they have been friends for years, but he had a strange feeling about this and thought he better he should know.
He didn’t want to be screwed around again like he had been in the past.
And with that he formed a plan in his head, he would get Amy, Hannah and Bill and Tom alone later because it seems they will probably tell him more than Mikey or Gerard because Gerard seems to be the centre of it and Mikey wont tell because hes Gerards brother. But Amy, Hannah, Bill and Tom seem to be in the know aswell.
And with that thought, he headed to class.

Chapter 10
Franks first lesson that day was Art. He only had Amy and Hannah in that lesson with him, so it was the perfect time to put his little plan into action.
He picked a seat right at the back of the room where the teacher wouldn't pay much attention to them. Amy and Hannah joined him and the three of them got their things out, ready to draw the strange loking grey object in front of them.
Frank concentrated on his work for 5 minutes and then watched Amy and Hannah out of the corner of his eye. They both seemed a little unsettled and were nowhere near as friendly as they had been yesterday and there was defiantely an awkward silence between them.
Frank sighed quietly and decided to break the silence, "So what's this place like, where you went yesterday?" He asked innocently, keeping his eyes down on his work. "Oh...umm...nothing special...y'know" Said Hannah nervously. Frank smiled his plan was working just like he knew it would. "Wow, we'll all have to go there y'know at the weekend or something." Suggested frank. "Nnnnoo!!!You um...you can't sorry" Exclaimed Hannah quickly. Amy glared at her and then turned to Frank "What hannah means is, it closed yesterday, Last night was the last night is was open. That's why we went. Isn't that right?" She turned back to Hannah, who nodded but kept her eyes down on her work this time.
Frank smiled to himself. He knew they weren't telling the truth, which was a strat but he wasn't any closer to finding out this secret they were keeping from him. "Oh right, sorry." Said Frank "I dunno what was wrong with telling me that in the first place though." He mumbled "Because we didn't think it was so damn important to you!" Snapped Amy "Look no offence Frank but we've barely known you a day."
Frank nodded. He felt he'd pushed it a little bit too far but he had to get to the bottom of it.
As soon as the bell rang, Amy and Hannah dashed out of the room as quickly as they could to find the others. The boys could tell something was up, neither Amy or Hannah were normally this quiet. Gerard spoke up first, "What's wrong, you're both pretty quiet, Frank done something to upset you?" he asked with his eyebrows raised slightly.
"He was asking loads of questions about last night thats all." said Hannah quietly. "Oh ****" mumbled Mikey and he hugged her close to him. "Oh great!" Snapped Gerard, "You better not have said anything" Growled Gerard
"No we didn't" Said Amy nervously snuggling into Bill "But he can tell somethings wrong Gee and he's gonna try and find out"
Gerard looked at Bill and Tom, "You're in his next lesson right? Don't give anything away"
Frank went straight to his next lesson and took the seat directly behind Bill and Tom. "So you guys enjoy yourselves last night?"Asked Frank casually. "It was just a meal, nothing special" Said Tom impatiently, staring straight ahead. "Sorry!" said Frank "Just trying to make conversation y'know"
Bill turned around so sharply that Frank nearly fell off his chair in shock. Bill looked Frank right in the eye and Frank sank back into his chair feeling slightly afraid. "Whats with all the questions?" Asked Bill he spoke quietly but his voice seemed to drip with venom when he spoke, "First Amy and Hannah and now us?"
Frank shook his head and mumbled an apology, Bill glared at him for a moment more and slowly turned back to the front, as he did so, Frank swore he saw a slight glint in Bills eyes.......

Chapter 11 Frank shook his head, it must have been the way the light caught Bills eye right? But as Frank watched the two in front of him he noticed Tom glaring at his brother and Bill shrugged his shoulders. It must be one of those twin things thought Frank and continued on with his work. He was now more certain than ever that something was up and his curiosity was growing by the second. His plan hadn’t worked so far apart from aggravate the teens, which isn’t a good thing.
Next was lunch, he needed to talk to Gerard now. That was going to be tough, Frank knew Gerard would be the toughest one to break.
Frank found the group sitting under the usual willow tree in the school grounds and as Frank sat down next to Amy and Bill the group went quiet and stopped their previous conversation.
"You don’t have stop because of me" said Frank hoping that they would continue, which will give him more clues on why the teenagers have been acting so suspiciously.
Hannah noticed Gerard heading towards them.
"Hey guys don’t we have homework to do?" she said, glancing at each one of her friends. They all nodded getting up. "We’ll see you later Frank"
and with that they waved and walked off.
Gerard reached the tree and sat down next to Frank, not looking at him in the eye.
"Why ask so many questions?" Gerard questioned.
"I just want to know why you guys are acting so weird, is it because of me?"
Part of Frank really did think he was the reason the group was acting weird, they probably considered him a freak because he was gay.
"No its nothing to do with you and its none of your damn business" said Gerard still not looking Frank in the eye.
"Sorry I just would like to be included"
"Frank! We’ve known you for one god damn day for **** sake" Gerard really was started to get pissed off at Frank and he could feel it building up inside him.
"Oh okay fair enough" frank paused, he had to try this another way. "was it you on the roof?"
"FRANK JUST DROP IT OKAY?" Gerard pratically yelled and Frank could of sworn he saw Gerards eyes shine just like Bills did but once again he blamed it on the lighting, he was a bright day afterall. Frank decided to finally drop it, he didn’t want to risk it anymore, he would try again another day, maybe later. But for now he’d drop it he didn’t want to risk losing his new friends.
They sat in silence for a few more minutes when a small blonde girl came upto the boys.
"Hey Baby you ready to go? I'm really looking forward to this afternoon" she smiled licking her lips.
Gerard looked up and smiled. "sure am"
He stood up and wrapped his arm around the girl and kissed her on the lips. "Lets go" and he turned and started to walk away with the girl.
"Bye Frank" he said over his shoulder, no emotion in his voice.
Well that wasn’t the same girl he saw Gerard kiss yesturday.

Chapter 12
Frank sat back under the tree until lunch was over and then he slowly made his way back into the school and over to his locker. He locked at his timetable. History and Maths not the most appealing of lessons. He was about to get his stuff out of his locker whne he looked back at his timetable. It was only two lessons, it wasn't like anyone woould miss him for just two hours and this would give him another decent opportunity to get what he was after. He shoved his things quickly back into his locker and snuck out of the school carefully.
He hung around outside the school for the last two hours until he heard the final bell ring, looking round he picked the perfect spot and waited. It was just right-out of sight but in earshot because if they weren't going to tell them this secret, he would have to find out for himself.
Frank heard Ray and Bobs voices getting closer, he sank back into his place and listened. They had to know something or at least more than he did. They walked passed and Frank followed a little way behind them. He couldn't hear what they were saying but he was sure his name had been mentioned quite a lot, which couldn't be good. He was about to catch up with them and start talking when he heard the rest of the group a little way behind.
Frank found somewhere else to hide himself as the group passed him slightly and then came to a stop with Ray and Bob. Frank could hear their conversation more clearly now.
"Yeah he wasn't in the last two lessons" said Mikey. "Y'know Gee did look pretty pissed off when he came over at lunch." Said Amy thoughtfully. "You don't suppose....." "He wouldn't!!Would he?" Asked Hannah nervously, looking up at Mikey. Mikey shook his head but didn't say anything. If he was honest he didn't know what Gerard would do especially after his recent outburst. "Yes" said Ray "But we all know how protective Gerard is. Especially over you 5." "Ray!" said Tom playfully "You make Gee sound like some kind of mass murderer or something!!"
Everyone laughed and then looked up. Gerard seemed to appear out of no where with the girl. Except this girl had dark hair. Frank frowned, he was sure the girl from earlier had been blonde, but he'd been seeing things all day and he couldn't be sure. He shifted his weight slightly trying to get a better look. He was almost close enough to see when he lost his balance. He tried to pick himself up but it was too late, Gerard had already seen him...........
Chapter 13
Franks eyes went wide as they connected with Gerards. He knew he had been caught. This was not going to be good. He saw the flash in Gerards eyes, it was winter now and the sun was going down, so there was no way it was the way the light caught Gerards eye.
" Gee, what’s up dude?" asked Bill, concerned for his friend.
Gerard ignored him and walked towards Frank, the groups eyes followed were Gee went and they all spotted Frank half hiding behind the tree, Their eyes went wide and approached Frank along with Gerard, just staying a little further behind. Ray and Bob exchanged glances, they knew what was coming and decided it was best that they stayed behind a little and give their friends some room, they made the black haired girl Gerard was with leave, she didn’t know what was going on and it was probably best that she wasn’t here.
"Gerard its not what it looks like" said Frank coming fully from behind the tree. Gerard didn’t say anything but closed the distant between the two teenagers. "I was feeling ill, so I went home and decided that I was feeling better so I thought that I would come back and wait for you lot"
"So you thought you’d hide behind a tree?" said Tom, laughing slightly to himself. Gerard shot I'm a glare.
"I.. I didn’t want the teachers to see me" Frank stuttered, well in his defensive that was partly true. It was getting dark now, the sun had almost completely gone behind the horizon making way for the clear night sky.
"How much did you hear?" asked Gerard, staring straight into Franks eyes.
"What?
"I said how much did you hear" Gerards voice rose slightly. He didn’t like being lied too and made to look like a fool.
"N..nothing" Well that was partly the truth, he didn’t know anything about their little secret or whatever, just something about Gerard that didn’t seem important. Maybe Gerard had angry issues Frank Though Well that does kind of explain the random outbursts and stuff. But what about Bill? He seemed especially pissed off too. They can’t all have angry issues, can they? "Good" Gerard replied, and walked straight past "I'm going for food"
