ohhhh that is a good point re being able to build it from the ground up and have feedback and input. we do like that idea :)
how much would it cost? we are unfortunately in uh. a bad financial situation at the moment but if it improved we would be willing to contribute something.

I think that a sponsorship similar to the current one could potentially work. Depending on cost I would probably do it as I sponsored here for years (only stopped this year because they took my money and gave me none of the benefits of being a sponsor. Definitely don't recommend this site.). I expect the amount to change from the current rates as like everything the costs have gone up.

Things I’d like to see from a new site:
- No rules (I don’t mean be trigger happy, I mean like one that says ‘don’t be a dick’ would suffice)
- Features to block members
- Other mods (nit because I think Jenna does a hordible job, just to ease the pressure on her!)
- The arcade was fun, but I don’t know if its still possible to integrate one into a forum these days
- No chat (feel like if you want a chat feature TGL suffices, but if the majority of members wanted it I’d just not use it)
- Ability to change username
I kniw ages ago Harley was talking about a RYL v4, that obviously isn’t going to happen but may e we could use some of the ideas for that in the mew site?

would personally love a chat but understand how difficult that is to mod and host with discord existing
dont personally think no rules other than dont be a dick is a good idea in reality even though it sounds good hypothetically. even on other forums we are on where there is like, no need to trigger warn and anything goes content wise (pro harm, pro suicide, etc), there ARE still rules in place. while most of them do boil down to don't be a dick there are still base guidelines needed and the expectation of following them. especially if liability might be an issue that would, we would guess, be something needing to be explored and figured out.
also dawn... if you dont recommend ryl... why are you still here? genuinely confused by that comment.

I’m also confused by the comment, if you don’t like it why ate you still here? Seems kind of counterproductive to say that, but then still ask for advice and things from a site you don’t like?
I meant I don't recommend sponsorship of this site not that I don't like ryl in general. Because you don't get the extra things like bigger pm box and title which I found out the hard way. I assume it's to do with the email issue. I would hate for people to spend their money just to have it wasted and get nothing in return. I love ryl hence why I have stuck around for 21 years. Sorry for the confusion.

not trying to be rude here, so hope it doesnt come across that way. but as much as we can appreciate how much harley has done for ryl and all of us, it sounds as though life has taken him in other directions and that is no longer something he is invested in - time or money wise. and that's okay! 20 years is a long time to not expect things to change. so think at this point planning on moving on to somewhere that we do have control over upkeep and maintenance of makes the most sense. of course we will stick around on ryl as long as it is here, but it's not realistic to think at this point that harley will be coming back to pour time and money into the site.

Yeah, I think we're looking for retro forums like RYL. Some of us are just too scared of discord as it still feels too much like chat. Someone also pointed out another negative of discord forums that I now don't remember.
I'm really glad that TGL exists and works for some people but I think if it worked for everyone we wouldn't still be gliding around on this ghost ship :P
