I have LLI. It had a negative impact on my life in my younger years in high school. I'm going on 29 now, and feel like I have a huge advantage over my peers. The biggest issues I've faced, are to do with people treating me bad, because I view things differently. The part that made it rough, is the fact that I can read people to the point of almost reading their mind. I can sense when someone doesn't like me, and can know what they're thinking from nothing more than a look.
If anyone wants to know what it's like to have LLI, e-mail is a good example. On your e-mail account, you have a spam filter. Latent inhibition works just like a spam blocker. It automatically filters out spam, so you only get e-mails you think you need to read. With LLI, the spam filter is turned off. You get 1000 e-mails a day, and you have to read them all. The thing about having LLI, if you have the computing power to process every e-mail, you find a few important ones that would normally be blocked and ignored by spam blockers. If you have a high IQ, you can learn to utilize information that is actually useful, but would normally be blocked by normal latent inhibition. I guess you could say it's annoyingly useful.
