Today it's RAINING! Grey cloud, rain and it's cool! YES!

Thunder bugs are really, really tiny black things that seem to get everywhere when it's really hot and humid. They itch when they crawl on your skin. They're only about 1mm long.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.

I'm so happy the weather is cooling too.

Are thunder bigs the same as midgies? they hover around in packs and tend to swarm around you/your head?

Try the Hebrides! Harley and I have just got back after our second trip of the summer and have still hardly seen the sun. It has been awful up there with more wind and rain than for many years - the crofter's fields of winter feed for their cattle are lakes. The fishing (for trout/sea-trout) has been impossible. Let's not complain if we finally see a bit of sun in East Anglia ...

Today I cycled through Glasgow in the pouring rain. Splashing through puddles was fun.

I'm actually really pleased the weather was hot and sunny two of the days I was in London as it rained Sunday and we just felt crappy and couldn't wait to get home away from the weather.

Although I do love the hot weather, I suffer with hayfever and I hate that the hot weather brings that along with it. :(

Looking back in the thread, Arienette, I can tell you that thunder bugs are very different from midges. Particularly in the NW of Scotland midges appear whenever the weather is calm and they are there in their billions - and they bite to the extent that can drive people off their heads.

In the Western Isles we normally have sufficient breeze to keep them down in the grass/heather, but if the breeze drops then they rapidly become impossible and the only effective cure is a face net/veil soaked with Avon "Skin so Soft" (however pansy that sounds!). Many years ago when - whisper it - I smoked, I was once reduced to having three cigarettes at once dangling out of my mouth in an attempt to keep them at bay; I still had to run off the moor to the shelter of my car to escape them. In comparison thunder bugs are trivia ...

I just moved and it is so hot here and so humid and there's no breeze to take it down at all.
