Thanks both. Carmen, she suggested some place for attachment issues. I know I form attachments differently to 'normal' but I don't see it as a massive problem or as something that will change- it's just the way I am. I feel so exposed that I've talked about so many different personal things to someone and then essentially it coming to nothing.
I feel really shit about this to be honest.

Oh gosh that sounds so tough and really rather crap of her though good that she didn't see you if she didn't feel confident.

Big hugs

It sucks when you talk about all the things you struggle with etc and then it comes to nothing.

I agree with Carmen and Hannah, it is a huge positive that you went through with it.

It is ok to feel **** about it all. When I was told similar I felt pretty **** about it for a while too. Give yourself a few days and see how you feel about investigating some of the other options. Hold on to the fact you totally rock for going in the first place and going to session number 2!!

Hmmm. Well that friggin sucks! On the other hand at least she was honest and didn't keep seeing you when it wouldn't be beneficial. Did you recommend what you should look for when researching other counsellors? Have you tried the BCAP or whatever it's called website? I understand it took a lot of metaphorical balls to open up and it truly is **** that she wasn't the right person to help you help yourself. I think it is importAnt to keep reminding yourself of why you wanted to look for therapy. Yes, being honest can feel seriously exposing but at the same time, if you're not going to see her again, why does it matter what she thinks or whatever? I mean logically, as a counsellor she won't judge anyway!

Oh my goodness, I would be devastated by that. I'm so sorry that it panned out that way, I hate the 'complex' label. Please don't let it get in the way of seeking help though, there will be someone willing to take you on.

This may seem a bit of a long shot, but a clinical psychologist friend of mine in London may be able to advise on therapists and / or how to find a good one.

I got told by my uni's counselling service that they only know how to help people who are "milder" (as they put it) on the autism spectrum and because I am not mild they can't help me, and that they felt uncomfortable with my support worker's presence!

Don't let this upset you. Find a better counsellor.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
