I'm one of those people that gets all excited and demands cuddles when someone I know has a baby. I think it's just because babies need love and care and it makes me want to just cuddle them and look after them. I find adults to be quite intimidating and hard to talk to, but with babies, you can just babble away and they'll smile at you.
My psychology teacher at college had decided that babies are evil.
We are kind of programmed to like babies,
Or at least not want to harm them. It's a survival tactic. If you appear cute then people will look after you.
The big eyes = cute thing is supposedly why women wear eyeliner to make their eyes look bigger, and anime characters and other cartoons have big eyes.
Personally I don't find babies cute at all. But once they start getting personalities and starting to talk and walk/crawl I find them much more interesting and cute.
I feel uncomfortable around babies and would never hold one. Also their crying/high pitched screams give me sensory overload. I have actually lost it before when I've had to sit next to a crying baby.
I am female but have no maternal instinct in me. Doesn't matter as I've never had sex and probably never will.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
I don't like how everyone seems to be obsessed with babies when they are born... well really, everyone I know calls it a 'miracle' but there's so many babies being born, it's more common than a miracle. I like babies when they laugh but I do find it sad that everyone seems to be bringing in more kids into the world without realizing how f'ed up the world really is. It's all well & good to have one kid, but not more... especially when people just do it for money. =[
They're described as miracles because of how they come to be. I wouldn't personally call them miracles but I'd definitely describe the process as awe inspiring (or something similar).

I think rather than thinking it's sad that people bring more children into the world because it's f***ed up, it's more worrying that some people giving birth to many many children despite the world being very overpopulated, which causes a huge strain on resources. Personally, I feel it's especially sad in places where contraception isn't available for one reason or another, so women often have multiple children because there's no contraception available to stop that happening. Just to add, I'm not suggesting people not have any children.

I can understand the concern about the strain on resources etc. however although we might not be able to understand why some women want large families but surely it's their decision? Unless we resort to drastic measures such as those taken by China (HEAVEN FORBID!) then we need to respect that a minority of women (or couples) will want to have lots of children... Pregnancy, giving birth and nurturing babies can be extremely satisfying and joyful to some women, and it can be something women are just desperate to do more and more... For example, I absolutely love pregnancy and childbirth, and if it weren't for all the shizzle afterwards then I'd happily do it over and over and over..
I fully appreciate that some women will want to have lots of children but I was just wondering if that matter would benefit from us changing our behaviour. After all we change our behaviour regarding other things to better the health of our planet, social systems, ecosystems etc etc.
