Hi!!! I just want to let everyone know I passed my driving test today!!!!

Thank you all so much for encouraging me! I really would have given up after last time but your kind words gave me the confidence to carry on! <3

I got two minors (same as last time) but it's all good cos I PASSED!!!

I'm dreading the independent driving part, bah I'm dreading all of it! Lol.
If I remember your test is on Halloween? I'm sure you'll be fine as you've had previous road experience. What got me through my test is to literally keep asking myself road related questions, that way my focus is on driving and off of the examiner!

The examiner I had this time was really nice, really friendly. All the others have been older, quite intimidating men, and whilst this guy wasn't young, he was very smiley and made me feel as comfortable as could be. I did get a little nervous at the beginning (hence two minor faults) and I thought I had failed, and what people tend to do is, if they think they've failed early on in the test, they don't bother trying and end up failing for silly things that happened later on in the test. NEVER do that, if you think you've failed, use the rest of the test to 'redeem' yourself and demonstrate you're a good driver. Chances are you haven't failed, and if you do this will help you further, in case the same examiner takes you for another test. So ten mins in, thinking I failed already, I still didn't give up, as soon as I started acting like I wasn't being watched, I was fine.

I was last out of the test centre so I was given bay park. I HATE bay park, it's my least confident monoeuvre. Then for the independent driving I was given a set of instructions whilst still in the bay "Go right, right again, then left, then follow signs to city centre". For the ID, they almost always give you both road signs to follow, and a set of directions in one go. Might not be at the same time, but you'll do both at some point in the test. Some examiners give you a map (not to scale) if the directions involve roundabouts.

I also got emergency brake on a narrow road filled with parked cars, and I hadn't done an emergency brake since I was 18!

All good though, I cried when I found out I had passed! I hope this gives you a better idea of the test. Lots of luck!!!!

psssshhh just 3? HOW ABOUT NINE???? Lol. Never give up, keep trying! You're obviously test standard, don't let the money go to waste! Keep at it, you'll pass next time, for sure!!!

I came to this thread because I guessed it was an 'I passed' post! And good news is always fun.

Congratulations! That is such good news. I am glad you didn't give up.
When I sat my test, I was in torrential rain..My examiner was the examiner who failed me on my first test and in the end I just thought '**** it' I just want to get back safely..I passed with 3 minors..Be proud of your two minors because that is amazing!

Again, Well done for passing!

Well done on passing, it took me 6 attempts over 4 years to pass my driving test. I hated bay parking too, I failed one of my tests for doing it with my handbrake on the entire time! Getting an examiner that suits you can really help in whether you pass or not, my first 4 tests were with the same examiner and bless him he did try to put me at ease but he just made my anxiety worse. I love driving now

I agree, the new format for me, took some getting used to in itself, but it was worse when I was terrified of the examiner and I got two of the same examiners twice.... :( But I'm so lucky I got this guy, he's not from our town, he just came down to work there for the day because our test centre was so busy.

Thanks again everyone!!! I haven't been this happy in a LONG time! <3
