It's understandable that you are upset and angry by the situation with your friend committing suicide and then the CMHT not providing you any extra support after that. It's really disappointing in all honesty.

The letters aren't the be all and end all. I think given that you are still technically IP, they would be incredibly reluctant to discharge you anyway. Even if they did decide discharge was your decision, you could explain to them that you sent the letters at a time when you were really frustrated and upon reflection you question the validity of those letters.

Have you had any more thoughts about getting an advocate so in the future, if the CMHT aren't doing what they are meant to, somebody can give them a kick up the backside?!

I'll see how it goes with regards to discharging myself. If I get discharged then OK, if not then I will definitely get an advocate.

OP, maybe these letters will make them realise how **** they are being and how much it's affected you?

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Does anyone know what will happen if I don't turn up to my review on Thurs? Will they send someone to the house? I really don't want that as I live with my Dad and brother.

why not turn up to the review and see what they have to say? you have nothing to lose by going. if you dont go, it could potentially just makes things more awkward for you. how about making things easier for yourself, you deserve that much. x

It's a waste of time going. Most of the time they forget that they've even made an appointment for me to be seen and they don't tend to have the medication ready for me to collect. Anyway, I can't go 'cos of what I've done.

If they think that you're a danger to yourself, they may send someone to your house; possibly the police for a welfare check, possibly a mental health team for an assessment. It's not really worth the hassle.

Is it not worth going, just to keep them off your back?

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

No offence but the vast majority of people within mental health services have to scream from the rooftops to get what they need and not turning up to a CPA when you have been informed when it is, is downright silly. They may not listen, but this is the prime oppertunity to speak out, and advocate for yourself. It is also, although important to be done with tact and some level of politeness, a place to ask why they didn't support you when your friend ended their life. But do suggest ways they could help you now, so as to remain productive and focussed on a solution.

If you need an advocate, get one, most hospitals have an advocacy service, and mind certainly does. http://www.mind.org.uk/help/rights_a...de_to_advocacy

People don't always know what is best, or get it right, some don't listen, but it still remains that you are the best person to explain it to them, several times over if needs be.

Go to the CPA, consider what you want, what you need, how you wish for them to deliver the support and write it out on the computer, print off 10 copies and give it all the people at the CPA at the begnning so they can read and then ask them to discuss it with you. Helps everyone know that they're all reading from the same hymn sheet.

After the last couple of days the review tomorrow is off.

You're right MissAnonymous it was silly to even contemplate not attending my CPA. I haven't been given an actual date yet but I have decided to attend otherwise as you say they won't get to hear what I've got to say.

Thank you everyone for knocking some sense into me.

You can make a formal complaint. I had a really rubbish pseudo-psychiatrist who really upset me several times. I made a formal complaint about him and now I have a very good psych (the consultant) and my CPN is good too.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
