Ps when I looked into humane traps the only area around here i could release it is a neighbours garden which is not fair and apparently illegal!

we had council traps here and they did nothing so we bought our own and got rid of them that way. We only had 3 though luckily!

I didn't look into long enough but I found one reputable site that said releasing vermin into the wild was illegal and as I live in the middle of london where there is no park etc that is less than a 15 min walk away I would have to sneak out into the dead of night to the council block up the road and then release them there and yeah.
Council solution is much better and it's free to

It might just have left. That's what happened in my old flat. It might be an idea to go round the flat and make sure any gaps a mouse can get in are filled so it doesn't come back. I hope that's the end of it because I can understand your fear of them.
