I've just had a reminder letter through to book my first one, i have to admit i've been putting it off since i turned 25 but i know it needs to be done so shall ring up and book tomorrow (also can you request a woman does it cos i dont think i'd be comfortable with a male doctor doing it)

Its usually a nurse and the majority of nurses qualified to do smears are women. I've had swabs but not a smear I need to go get it done but keep putting it off too.

Yeah just say you would like a lady nurse to do it. Good luck booking it. Im up and its in 5 hours. Im not sure if i can go im in such a state - i go and it could be fine, i go and there could be something wrong which would send me over the edge or i dont go and just have this constant worry. ahhhhh im so scared i hate being a woman. Im scared theres something wrong and ill look like a freak xx

You need to remember the nursed have done it over and over with so many people they will be used peoples reactions by now. Just remember its about preventing things so if someone does have something it can be caught and treated early. There have been so many sad cases of people not having the smears then ending up with cancer and dying when if they went for the smear they would have been alive.
Just remeber its going to be five mins then over.

If there is something there and something badly wrong then it means you can get treated, although the cases of having cancer are very small. Sometimes tests can show something but most of the time its not anything to worry about.

I hope you're feeling a bit better about it today?
Doing what you did is exactly what makes you courageous :) Powering through the fear, doing something even though you're scared blind is what it feels like. The rewarding part is looking back and seeing how brave you were and what you managed to accomplish.
BIG hugs to you
