You can give someone a non alcoholic drink, tell them it's alcohol, and they will get 'drunk'. The power of suggestion is strong!

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

I recall Smarties removed the blue ones for a while I think because there was some hooha about the colouring causing hyperactivity? They brought it back with natural colouring though.

Did you know that in Germany there is some kind of weird tradition to give something sweet to the kids before they go to bed?
We call it 'nachthupferl'.
If sugar would really make kids hyperactive, then germans wouldnt give their kids sugar before they go to bed.

People are not actually doing it these days... it was a tradition my gradparents did. When we slept at my grandparents place they gave us some chocolate or whatever before we went to bed and I don't remember not being able to sleep. We always slept fine.

Sugar is the first thing that is used by the body for energy (before proteins and fat). Glucose is easy to use to make a lot of energy but it doesn't last long.
That's why people experience "sugar highs", their body uses up all the sugar so they have lots of energy, but when there's no more sugar the energy level drops suddenly.
I don't think sugar is the only factor that makes kids (or people in general) hyper though. Sure, it must contribute to it since its a source of energy, but there are a lot of other factors that should be considered as a possible cause of hyperactivity.
