Of course it is okay. It's easy to tell yourself it's wrong, or that it isn't necessary to be ashamed so it is illogical. But actually it's pretty logical. Considering you are recovering and a lot of that process involves feeling self-sufficient, feeling needy or afraid is bound to trigger shame but that shame isn't something to be ashamed of (if that makes sense). It's not something you can "just stop" any more than being ill was something you could just turn over like a page to the next chapter. You need to realise that your feelings might be negative but they are natural: it *is* okay to be ashamed of those things, even though it isn't necessary to be. So the feeling itself is something you will ride out, over time, the same way you learn to ride out the bad times when you are trying to cope with being/ having been unwell.
