Seriously guys - with comments like these appearing it's a wonder that Harley even keeps RYL running!! If I was him I'm not sure I'd be too keen on investing all that time (and probably money) into upgrading a site where the members are just moaning.
Lets just all remember that Harley doesn't HAVE to provide us with RYL at all - Perhaps we should just bear in mind that Harley does have a life outside RYL and maybe something has come up which has prevented him from any v4 updates. Can't we just be grateful for what we have??
That is what my post was about, but the subsequent posts have shown the frustration a lot of people feel. There is a lot of things wrong with this site, but nothing can be done to fix them, and it's been that way for years. It is no wonder people get annoyed and frustrated, and ultimately lose any hope to make it better.
RYL has a lot of problems, most of which are not actually related to the website's maintenance or structure, but they do certainly impact on things.
Even if there was just a little post every once in a while saying "V4 is still planned and there has been a few problems with it" people would be happy with that.
I have been holding off on replying to this thread for awhile; However, there are a few thing that need to be said. Sorry stephh but you are the (un)lucky person who gets to be quoted.

I HIGHLY disagree. All I have seen from him during my tenure as a staff member was Laissez-faire. We are a community with no active central admin. Unless anything changed in the past 3ish weeks we have a large backlog of tasks that need done.

When you say ryl has gone downhill that interests me. *Wonders if you could clarify* Although i do agree it has gone downhill alot.
I do agree though that ryl has gone downhill. Maybe my reasons are different i dont know, but at least i know im not the only one who feels that way. The reason we make comments is because what is there to be positive about when we are constantly being told that v4 is coming? It seems highly unlikely it will ever happen. Not to mention having a big list of things that need to be done that also seems unlikely to be done.

Those photos of Harley aren't really relevant...are they meant to be light-hearted humor or to embarrass him? I know most people have seen them before anyway so I don't suppose he'd have any reason to be embarrassed. He's not above criticism. I don't care whether or not there is ever a V4 but I know Harley is not some wonderful and benevolent god to RYL'ers. He's a person, and lowering your expectations might help a bit. That and giving up hope for a V4.
