I was kinda on the shocked side with the video of the self harming in the bath but thats all really. good song though will download it to my ipod.

Thing is i'm thinking of younger generation on this.

I started watching music videos at the age of 7/8 I liked pink at 10/11 would you really want your child to watch this video?
No I wouldn't but I do like the song just not really the video that goes with it too much even though it captures the song alot

I am now not going to use this account as my main one from now on.
If you want my new account PM me. xxx

I don't think it glamorizes SI either. And there is more in the video other than SI. I like it.

I can give a point of view for both the song and the video seperatly since I watched/listened to them seperate. The video on its own is quite triggering, but the song.. is so motivational to me, to get better. To not feel down about myself. The video gets the point across more though.

The video also gets across that people with mental health problems can make something of their life :)

I don't see that it's glamourising. If you read what pink said about it she explained that it's to raise awareness and make a better place for her unborn child. I think it's amazing she she has the guts to make a video on such a tabboo subject. <3

You called me an angel, there must be a twist,
Have you ever seen an angel with scars on her wrist?
And blood trickling down from a gash on her arm,
Have you ever seen an angel self harm?-Unknown

To echo what most people have said,I don't find the video to show self-harm in a glamourous way.I love P!nk and always have, because she isn't afraid to tackle issues like this.I was a little shocked at the blood scene but only because I wasn't expecting it.
I agree with what Nicole94 has said, and for the record I would be happy for my little girl to watch this.

i really liked the video. it was well done. and i dont think it is really glamourizing SH....especially not when you know what the lyrics are. the lyrics definatly give off a great message so props to pink for that.

"What could I do? I can’t fix your stuttering. I can’t wipe the razor-blade scars off your wrists or the cigarette burns off the back of you hands. I can’t give you a new mother. And as far as the nurse riding you like this, rubbing your nose in your weakness till what little dignity you got left is gone and you shrink up to nothing from humiliation, I can’t do anything about that either."

I loved it. I didn't think it was glamourizing at all. Triggering, yeah, a little bit. But there's been way worse in movies and TV shows, I don't see that it was any worse than anything we've seen before.

And the song is fantastic. <3

I really like this song, i heard it on the radio he other night.
I just watched the video and I don't think it is glamourizing the issues at all.

" my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you" you were carried out of are lifes into the next and when its my time to leave this life I know i will be carried into the next life with you.
I wish i had my world complete again.

I like it, I think it shows self harm clearly in the context of awareness and as a part in the 'story' of a very unhappy and hurt person. I don't think I would feel comfortable letting my 8/9 year old watch it because I'm not sure its something an 8/9 year old should be aware of in the graphic way the video portrays. However to fully appreciate the message Pink is trying to send, the video makes it a lot easier for someone younger to understand and relate to [bullying].

It is graphic but not glamorising, there is a distinct difference between the two. I think Pink has done well to show these potentially very glamorising behaviours [considering they are in a music video] as not glamorising. I mean, does that young girl look happy in that bath? Accomplished or proud? No. Its pain and suffering. It is clear her pain is the low point, the bad times, and like Lorraine said, it shows the girl as stronger in the end.

I had heard this song before the video came out, as it is on her greatest hits album (which i have). Yes some people may find it to be triggering, but i honestly believe that was not the purpose of the video. This is what P!nk does, she stretches the boundaries. I love P!nk and have all her albums and have watched all her music videos. If you have watched other videos made for P!nks songs, alot of them could be seen as wrong or bad, but that is who she is.
I thought i would post the lyrics to the song. I LOVE P!NK...

F***in' Perfect lyrics

Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss 'No way, it's all good', it didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated
Look, I'm still around

Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You're f*ckin' perfect to me!

You're so mean, when you talk about yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices in your head, make them like you instead
So complicated, look how big, you'll make it!
Filled with so much hatred...such a tired game
It's enough! I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same

Oh, pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You're f*ckin' perfect to me

The world stares while I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in line, and we try try try, but we try too hard and it's a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere
They dont like my jeans, they don't get my hair
Exchange ourselves, and we do it all the time
Why do we do that? Why do I do that?

Why do I do that..?

Yeah, oh, oh baby, pretty baby..!
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f*ckin' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're ****ing perfect to me
You're perfect, you're perfect!
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You're ****in' perfect to me...

I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed
Get along with the voices inside of my head
You're trying to save me, stop holding your breath
And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy

It's like the new anthem for emo, Lol.

Song is rubbish, video is a stereotypical mess.

Also when the girl was self harming I think her reaction / expression was all wrong.

Just my opinion. :]

I see the argument of not wanting kids to see this video, but surely, most young kids will be seeing this on music channels where I can see it being heavily edited, and if they wanna watch it online it'll most likely be flagged by youtube etc as mature audience etc, sure there are other sites and they could watch it if persistent, but they'll most likely only be so persistent if everyone makes such a fuss over it.

Although it looks like that will happen.

Also to me it didn't seem to glamorize anything, my opinion like but there's been much worse than this for glamorizing and in a way you could say anything showing drug use/SH etc is glamorizing it if it's shown in a mainstream way like a pop video.

But yeah I'm interested as to know why people see this as glamorizing? Honestly just because I can't see it myself but maybe I'm missing something.

Oh god I want to hear you say,
I want to hear you say that you were wrong again

Absolutely love both the song and video <3.

Yes it can be triggering but there's plenty of things that have that affect on people everywhere (TV, movies etc). Definitely do not see how it could glamorise self harm at all. Quite the opposite in my opinion.
