Receiving messages in the night drives me round the bend if they're just about a heap of rubbish, or some silly chain message; however, i don't mind in the slightest if someone calls at 4am because they're in desperate need.
Our phones stay on in the event of a family emergency, or indeed, for friends who do need to talk through something during the night; but i wholey detest people texting in the early hours because they "felt like it" and there wasn't an actualy reason.
