Gothika, 28 days later, 13 Ghosts - i hate in when the girls in the bathroom then it shows you the room through the glasses , really creeps me out.
Oh and Texas Chainshaw Massacre watched it with a friend when i was about 13 /14 that was scary still find it scary now. Saying that its the films that are based on real life that get me the most as it like that can/could actually happen to someone.
I haven't seen that many horror films but I agree with the people who said The Shining, it's absolutely brilliant (as is the book). When I first saw it I was about 10 and it didn't actually scare me that much, but it creeps me out a little more every time I watch it.
I agree with Gothika too.
The Cell. Really freaked me out though, still does, years later. Really disturbing. It's about a psychologist (Jennifer Lopez) who is able to go into people's minds... almost literally... in order to help them. Only, she has to go into the mind of a serial killer with, I believe, an unusual form of schizophrenia who has abducted a woman with only hours to live... but nobody can find out where she is, because the serial killer is now unconscious. She needs to go into his mind to try and find clues. But it is very upsetting.
I also liked Ghost Ship when I was in my teens, it is scary although parts of it are so unbelievable it takes away the effect at times - apart from that, it is frightening.
Another one I used to watch is House on Haunted Hill. Funny in bits, but also disturbing. Another one that is a little unrealistic towards the end. It is set in an abandoned "asylum for the criminally insane". The best bit is where they're all running through the hospital with "Sweet Dreams" by Marilyn Manson playing. Aweshum. Man, I need to watch that.
Session 9 is scary and really atmospheric. Be warned, though, it depicts "MPD" (and yes, I say MPD instead of DID because I don't feel it's a very good depiction of the illness). It's about some workmen who go to fix up an old psychiatric hospital and... stuff happens. The scenery is really well done.
Jacob's Ladder really freaked me out. I'm not sure if it's a horror or a thriller but it's really good and has a great ending.

&&I wanted her to tell me that she will never wake me.
The Descent is an epic horror film, if you have any vague fear of the dark, enclosed spaces, or both then it's ideal, it will scare you shitless, watch it in the dark.
The Strangers and the Amytiville Horror are both really good as well, for actually being scary.
I was certain that I'd put The Descent on my list!
But alas, apparently not. But yes, very scary. I'm not sure if that's because I'm quite claustrophobic...
You are a wonderful creation.
You know more than you think you know, just as you know less than you want to know.
Re-Animator - it's not scarry, but if you're into gore you'll like it.
Paranormal activity - it had almost no special effects and yet I found it to be the scariest film I ever saw.
Scream - it's just too much fun.
I wanted to recommend Vacancy - it's not a typical horror movie - but it's really good - I love it.
"John, being brave is going where no man has gone before and with Lizzy Stark, that is NOT what you'll be doing!" - Aunt Polly.
“I told him I was going to betray you, and betray Lyra, and he believed me because I was corrupt and full of wickedness; he looked so deep I felt sure he'd see the truth. But I lied too well. I was lying with every nerve and fiber and everything I'd ever done...I wanted him to find no good in me, and he didn't. There is none.”
