wow. thats all i can say

Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry "Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!"

Bullying makes you see the world as scary and hostile when you're first learning what the world is.

These descriptions are really moving and deeply felt, I really sense that. I hope that articulating this helps you, and also others who're being or have been bullied.

I'll update the list later. :)

I really like this list. People don't realize that emotional abuse is just as bad as any other type, because you can't see it. But it really is and cause just as many problems as any type of abuse.

Here's another one:

Bullying attacks your mind, and your mind is the only way you have to interpret/interact with the world.

not sure if someone post this one already, but:

bullying makes you have a pessimistic view about the world and about yourself; you don't trust people that easily (or not at all) and you don't believe in yourself anymore, you feel you're useless and worthless

I write this alone on my bed; I've poisoned every room in the house; The place is quiet and so alone; Pretend there's something worth waiting for; There's nothing nice in my head
The adult world took it all away; Wake up with same spit in my mouth; Cannot tell if it is real or not; I try and walk in a straight line

Bullying encompasses all 'subtypes' of abuse to one degree or another. Physical, emotional, psychological, and yes, even sometimes sexual, even if not overtly so.

I think bullying can be extremly sexual. I was bullied in school because I was gay, and the bullying I received often involved boys ganging up on me and asking me why I wouldn't f**k them, or holding me down and touching my sexual parts or trying to make me touch theirs. I think bullying can be overtly sexual, so I think your statement is definitely true: bullying does encompass all types of abuse.

Just like in something like domestic abuse cases, bullying can make you feel trapped and helpless, too scared to turn to anyone in case; it gets worse; they don't believe you, etc.

1. Someone wields their power over you to gain power for themselves and make you powerless and helpless in the face of them. They feel bigger and you feel smaller, humiliated and powerless.

2. Bullying leaves you with a victim mentality, unable to see the good in yourself.

3. Verbal abuse is just as painful as physical.

4. People don't interfere when a peer is harming you, letting it continue for a long time.

5. It often includes physical assault.

6. The long term effects that bullying can have will leave you scarred, often permanently.

7. "Bullying" is just an easier word for children to say than "harassment." They're exactly the same behavior, only as you get older you should know better.

8. A person who is being bullied is a human as much as the abuser.

9. Bullying can lead to depression later in life. It can also cause post traumatic disorder, particularly with extreme hyper-vigilance in certain cases.

10. In older years, it escalates into physical harassment and direct attacks.

11. With the "wonders" of the internet, bullying can become learning the victims every personal secret in an effort to humiliate them and possible prevent them from being able to move on beyond.

12. It can leave you scarred for life.

13. It hurts.

14. There is absolutely no reason for it. Nothing is done to intentionally cause it. People are just mean.

15. It is often the same people who bully a person each time... as I'm led to believe, an abuser is generally the same person each time.

16 Bullying can really damage and dent somebodys own self perception. They may never recover from that or believe in themselves as much again.

17. Bullying can restrict peoples lives and activities for instance bullying may make people too scared and frightened to go to places like their school/college/workplace or even to go out at all depending on the circumstances.

18. Bullies scare their victims into not saying anything, so do abusers.

19. Bullying is unforgettable. It causes you to break off who you are and how you meet people as you often distance yourself for fear of getting hurt which, in fact, only serves to end up hurting you just as much in the long-run. It's a viscous cycle.

20. Bullying alters your belief system. You are blinded by what others say to try and convince you as to the positives of your personality as it just doesn't 'fit' with what you think and you believe. You're setting yourself up for a fall, every single time.

21. Bullying makes you see the world as scary and hostile when you're first learning what the world is.

22. Bullying attacks your mind, and your mind is the only way you have to interpret/interact with the world.

23. Bullying makes you have a pessimistic view about the world and about yourself; you don't trust people that easily (or not at all) and you don't believe in yourself anymore, you feel you're useless and worthless.

24. Bullying encompasses all 'subtypes' of abuse to one degree or another. Physical, emotional, psychological, and yes, even sometimes sexual, even if not overtly so.

25. Just like in something like domestic abuse cases, bullying can make you feel trapped and helpless, too scared to turn to anyone in case; it gets worse; they don't believe you, etc.

27. you become distant from existing friends and family (or even loose exisitng friends)

28. It dominates everything in your life when it occurs and for a time afterwards

29. You don't want to admit it's happening to you

30. You become unable to accept the fact that people may like and care for you.

31. When people do care or act in "friendly" ways it can be interpreted as a pre-cursor to being hurt in some way.

32. It's hard to distinguish how 'bad' it really was because it just becomes normal

33. Bullying can make you stop what you enjoy doing.

33. It destroys your character, you hide the unique things and characteristics that make you who you are - in fear that they will lead to you getting hurt - even for a long time afterwards and/or among good friends.

34. you become emotionally numb to other peopls problems, unless that problem is worse than yours

35. You feel guilty because after it's all stopped you feel bad and you think "I shouldnt be feeling this way there are people who have been through far worse than me"

36. Everyday life becomes stressful, obviously while it occurs but also afterwards, until you finally get over the anxiety your left with.

37. It takes away all your self confidence and self esteem. And if as a it is done while your growing up, you confidence and social skills are not allowed to grow naturally.

38. You can become obcessed with keeping the bullying secret. You avoid conversation where it may lead onto something that may either indicating bulling is occuring, has occured or will prompt your memory of such things.

39. It is easy to fall back into the cycle of bulling or the bullied mentality. Starting with "Its not bullying its not as bad as before", then it can slowly get worse if not stopped. Or some people, just by their character or presence, you feel very difficult to say no to, in fear that they will hurt you (even though they never will).

40. YOu can begin to believe what they are saying about you is true, or at least question whether what they are saying is true.

41. It begins to feel like everyone is bulling you, as "friendly banter" suddenly becomes more sinister.

42. You never feel you belong anywhere.

43. You can become extremely self-concious, and it can leave you with anxiety, agraphobia and you may even find it hard to physically open you mouth in certain situations or in a work situation you may find it extremly difficult to go and ask someone else you don't really know a menial question.

I know you have your ten reasons, but here is an extra one.

Bullying is abuse because it violates a persons boundaries and has potential for serious damage if left un-healed.

If you were shouted at, put down, ignored, taunted & made to feel worthless by a partner, you would call it domestic abuse.
If you are being shouted at, put down, ignored, taunted & made to feel worthless by peers, you CAN call it peer abuse.
