borntobleed; my arms look horrible too but i have found that even though people stare at me if i go outside in short sleeves, most of them won't think it's self harm but rather that you must have been in a horrible accident.
I've looked this way for a good few years and in time you actually tend to forget they're there sometimes. And if people stare at me and ask what has happened i usually just say that it's a long story.......
I know it's hard to not cover up. But sometimes it seems much scarier than the reality of it. Most people won't say anything and if they do just say you don't wanna talk about it.

I have so many scars and cuts so i have this problem quite often. I wear LOTZ of bracelet(like 30), cover them with makeup (which sometimes doesnt work), or i wear a jacket and convince myself i'm not hot or just deal with the stares and say the kittty scratched me. This is a difficult situation i know. sorry my advice really sucks.
