They usually don't prescribe it to people under 18 unless they really consider it necessary because in adolescents / children it has been found to increase thoughts of self harm / suicide. Although i know of several people, myself included, who were prescribed this before then.

It made me worse :(. Unfortunately, my self-harm went so bad I ended up needing surgery. SSRI's don't do me any good generally.

Well been taking it a few days now and have had bad head aches but on the up side my my sleep pattern is more stable even if im sleeping more lol .

I was on Citalopram for two years about three years ago and found it really beneficial in helping my severe depression. The only side effects were weight gain and numbness in my right arm. I was also in therapy at the same time and I think a combination of the meds and therapy were the best option. I was a smidgeon away from a breakdown and think Citalopram saved me until the therapy got going.

I've been on citalopram for 2 years and I didn't have any side effects. Give it at least 4 to 6 weeks to start working properly. I'm on 40mg for depression and it's working okay.

I was on it a while back but it didn't help me. I had no side effects though. I hope you find it helpful.

Hello Georgina, I was also on it. I asked to get changed from Prozac so I couldn't OD and because it was hard for me to take tablets as they made me feel sick.

I was on 40MG of the Citalopram (liquid) stuff. I was to take 9 drops a day at once but I only took 1 like everyday for a year and had no idea I was taking the wrong stuff.. At first I liked the taste of the stuff then it began to smell and it tastes horrid.

What age are you?

When I first took the CIT stuff I was ill in bed for a few days.. but my body is just plain ****ed, so don't worry - it wont happen to you.

Been to the docs to today and ive been put on the for another month at the same does till he sees me again.
