Thank you. :)

There are those who think people diagnosed with some mental illnesses don't have a heart, cannot feel love ... but ... everyone has a heart, including those with personality disorders. It may be more hidden in some, have more defences around it. But someone always has a heart. Treating someone who's very defended as a human being can help bring them, and you, in contact with that heart.

"everyone has a heart, including those with personality disorders."
I have a PD and already dislike my dx, so a bit upset by that comment. Not sure why that group has to be an add on? I'm sure you don't intend it that way, but it implies some people don't think that.

There are people out there that think that, not necc. for BPD, but for other personality disorders.

can I add one?

- being intelligent does not give you immunity againts mental illness, therefore telling someone 'you're a smart /boy/girl/man/woman', therfore implying that they're too inteligent to succumb to mental illness (as if it's a chocie!) only makes people feel worse!

oh and, even though its not really MH...

- just because someone is dyslexic does not mean they're stupid. So stop telling them they can't be dyslexic if they're doing well at school/uni.

Of course you can add one. :)

On that note... for those uninformed people out there in society that think anxiety and hyper-vigilance is a sign of low intelligence...

Having a mental illness doesn't mean one is not intelligent. It doesn't affect basic intelligence, although it can affect ability to apply that intelligence when symptoms are most severe.

Depression is NOT laziness

We are human beings who have our own needs and wants. If we say something, please LISTEN.

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

oh, here's a myth to explode - just because youre happy today, doesnt mean you dont suffer from depression or similar.

I love bringing up Einstein when people talk about intelligence being about what one can do because he was not only dyslexic but couldn't do the simplistic math to balance his check book nor the ability to tie his own shoes. Though I think its more that he was bored by the simplicity of those and irked by the time it took rather than an inability to learn it. I know I had that problem in math... I failed Algebra because it bored me, they put me in 'integrate math' (where they mix up the curriculum with algebra, calculus and trig) the next year and I got a B.

Thank you. <33

If someone ever says to you "You need to stop thinking so much," call them ignorant in your head and keep thinking deeper. It is this mentality that breeds stupidity and sheeple. Your mind is the most important tool you have. If you stop using it, it will atrophy.

Question everything.

I so totally agree with all of your posts, I get so super pissed off when people get freaked by mental illness it's not different to any other type of illness why is it still a taboo? I hate it, I have to go to work tomorrow in the worlds hottest hospital with an outfit consrtucted so I can be bare below the elbows but combine this with layers I can pull down over my forearms when I need to, I have to wear about a million layers, What I would give to wear a tee-shirt! xoxox

I love soooo many of these, well all of these, some I can relate to SO well.

One of my university friends is severely dyslexic (so can't read or write), has many other problems including severe ADHD & depression, but she's got a 1st class honours degree & is now doing her masters!!! Very proud of her <3

Have left RYL.
